1/4 scale P-39?

Does anyone know of any plans available for a 1/4 scale P-39 Airacobra? I have found 1/5 scale plans but no 1/4 scale.

That's what I figured. I just hate bringing those huge sheets of paper into Kinkos.

I did some checking into the American Eagle P-39 and it works out to about 1/4.25 scale. I know that is very close but I recently found this http://www.kitcutters.com/Cle/CleP39.htm which is exactly 1/4 scale according to my math which may or may not be 100%. My next question is if anyone has built any Cleveland Model planes and what they think about them.

"Cleveland Model"

My recollect is that Cleveland is rubber powered, not fuel, and built LIGHT.

Rubber powered? Well, that may change things a bit. I will contact them and look into it. I may still order the 1/4 scale kit from kit cutters, though. Could you imagine a 1/4 scale rubber powered P-39? I'm not sure that is possible, but maybe the kit can be altered to accept electric power?????

Again, use caution. I recall ordering something similar, where the vendor had merely "Kinko" enlarged the rubber model plans to the advertised "large" size. I don't remember if that was Cleveland, or someone else.

In a lot of cases, Cleveland has only one set of plans for a particular airplane. All the other sizes for that airplane are expansions or reductions of the original. And like Les said, many of the original were rubber powered designs. Whether which size was the original sized plans for the P39 and designed for rubber or engine is an unknown.

If you do get plans that are close on paper or CD, send them to Hemikiller. He does a beautiful job of expanding or reducing them and printing them. I asked him download a plan file from a British website and reduce it from a 114" to an 81" wing. He got it within 1/4 " and delivered the one sheet rolled for $11.45.
