Sunbird 60" sloper.

Hey guys,
thought I'd share my newest hot from the moulds.

Here is the spiel from the RCRCM website:

This is a cute little 60" sloper, Produced from CAD design and CNC generated moulds, this little/big sailplane was designed with a range of possible flyers in mind from novice to expert.

I designed it to be very transportable – basically, disassembled it can fit on a car parcel shelf, so it is very convenient to carry around, but at the same time I wanted to make an airframe that in expert hands could really perform.

The aerofoil section is probably quite advanced for this kind of plane and gives a very wide speed range and possibility of operation in a wide range of wind conditions.

Sunbird flying panels and control surfaces are large enough to be effective in almost any conditions, while the flaps make it possible to land the plane slowly and safely even at small flying sites.

Added to that, the radio bay is large enough to enable installation of the servos and radio pack without resorting to micro surgery, while the fuselage and in fact the whole plane still has a pleasing and balanced shape. Remember: “If it looks good, it flies good” – and that really is true with this little whizzer.

Specifications:

Wing span: 60” (1.52m)
Wing section: JH series
Length: 0.9m
Weight:
Controls: Ailerons, Flaps, Elevator, rudder (Optional)

By the way - can anyone tell me how to post Pictures here?

Cheers Dudes.

James Hammond

Hi wantee - when I go to advance there is no manage attachments - where to look for it. There is a small image icon but it just posts (IMG) and no pics.

Help!

This looks very nice. Everyone needs a good 60"er. I love my Nemesis. Is it too light for DS? Must have quite a lot of rudder authority for a 60".

Yes, a really pleasing shape. Looking forward to flight test reports on this one. How much is it going to cost?

Any plans for a super stiff DS version? I'm sure I can already hear voices from across the pond whispering "sock the fuse".

Although the first models into the UK will be glass, there is a carbon version available.

Price will, as ever, be depending on the exchange rate, a little over £200 looks a good bet - I'll put the price and details on the Sloperacer site once they're in.
