Gyrone

Hi Dave

Sounds about the same size of motor that I have. Spun the blades up of a 3S pack. That is how I managed to strip the main gear. You have to be very very careful with it. I know the feeling about work. It is a distant memory at this end. A friend of mine used to say you can have as much work as you like for nothing. That is about where we are. So I think I may do better than sneaking off in one of Joe's suitcases. Just sell up and go and live out there and be done with it. What do you reckon?

Looks like I will have to book in some extra luggage in April
Hi Guys
Got up into the attic and got some pics of my Gyro one models
My Mk1 Gyro one is different to the Mk2
The chassis is built from wood the new one is in aluminium
My rudder is only half the size of the new one
I have separate roll and pitch on the head the new one has elevon mix
My main blades are wooden the new ones are SAB glassfibre
The prerotater gear on mine is from the Align 500 new one Align 450
Hope this helps
Joe

Hi Joe

Thanks for the photos mate. That helps an awful lot with determining what motors to use for electric version. I have only been flying an RPG up to now. The flying part is fine. Where I mess up is the take-off but getting better. It is the usual Gyro gets airborne too soon. Kicks to the left. Sometimes I catch it sometimes I don't and sometimes it takes off absolutely perfect - hands off. As the Gyrone has a pre-rotator would you say that this by and large is less likely to suffer from the same problem or does the pre-rotator just make the take-off shorter.

Look out for strangers in April lurking around the hotel.

Kind regards

Gyroman

It would be good to see you at the Hotel
Things to try with the Mk2
Change to the blue main gear from Align see this link

Make sure your prerotator ESC is set to soft start

Check the amps drawn at full power and keep it below the ESC max

I find the prerotator does give a short take off with added advantage of being closer to the model on take off giving you a better chance of seeing any unwanted roll
