Craig, as you saw, I worked around the conflicting scheduling. Waiting to set up and run the swap meet until after the general meeting, and after some sort of break for lunch while the sailboat guys are prepping their boats for a 1:00 PM race, is simply not practical. The silent auction made it possible for people to bid on items without disturbing the meetings, and for the swap meet to end in time for the race prep. Unless the powers that be stop me, I'm going to schedule next year's swap meet exactly the same way. Just FYI.

Rob, It worked perfect-three hits and no outs. (: Two meetings, Swap-meet +unofficial off-season SB "beer-can" race #2! That was my first SFMYC Swap-Meet and it was great. Nice planning. Nice "stuff" on tables. Good prices. Next time I'll bring more "lunch money" for eye-candy. Bring it on! Jerry (e-wop) enthusiast without portfolio (: |

unofficial SB off-season "beer-can" race #2
Thanks to the skippers of 7 SBs who joined the 2nd unofficial off-season "beer-can" race. Light winds, clear skies and t-shirt weather made for an excellent day on the lake. A nice feature of unofficial off-season "beer-can" races is the relaxed atmosphere among skippers. SB newbies (the author & friends) sometimes hand our Tx to a SB top gun to help fine-tune the newbie's rigging. And, there's nothing quite as sobering as a newbie at the helm of the top guns fastie to reveal a lack of skipper skills. How better to bring newbies along than off-season "beer-can" racing with seasoned skippers? So, more practice is more better for more newbies with more fasties. We do have our eyes on the prize.....2013 AMYA SB O/D Nationals at Spreckels Lake during The America's Cup Race here on San Francisco Bay. Who's got it better than that?! Nobody. Mark your calendars: off-season SB "beer-can" (informal) Race #3 is Saturday, December 9, 1-3. RSVP helps planning. "Gentlemen, splash your boat!"
