I particularly like the sound and smoothness of the idle on the .46 and .55. I have never heard that on any other motor in my collection (pile) They seem quite powerful for a hobby grade motor too. As far as power figures are concerned, people expect idle of 2,000 and peak power of 28,000 rpm and max rpm of 32,000rpm to be achievable and use them for comparison to other motors. That is only numbers. I would just use them for selecting a prop really. Like car motors before 1971 with peak brake hp (bhp) and then later the SAE net HP, and now all the dyno rear wheel HP. It is all apples to oranges. Before 1971 they took off the alternators mufflers and misc. accessories to get the biggest #'s they could.

Very interesting I was going to ask whats the difference between a 46 size engine and a 52 ASP as I am using a trainer for a tow plane and would like a little more pull for a slighttly larger glider. my conclusion is a 52 will have just that little bit more for practicaly the same weight

Ed,

The JettStream tuned muffler will fit onto the OS.55AX and the two will work pretty well together.
However, I believe the boost will be to a lesser extent than it is with the .46AX...

It would be very nice if someone participating here , that owns both the JettStream and an OS.55AX, would make the effort to give use some comparative number; the PowerBox Vs. the JettStream, on some usable prop sizes.

If these comparisons could be done also on the OS.46AX, it would be even nicer!
