Timing was on 15 degrees and PWM was at 12KHz. I tried 11.25 degrees and 8KHz but didn't see much difference. Should I go down to like 3.75 degrees? Also, there isn't any way to get a heat sink on because the motor only sticks out about 2mm from the shroud...

Hey guys, I have a 14-blade CS and can't find a thread about it so want to ask a question here:

I've ordered this combo: http://www.turbines-rc.com/en/70mm-e...motor-4s-.html

This set comes with the motor installed (Cyclone Power 2800kv 4-cell) and factory-balanced, the box included a cooling heat sink that was not installed on the motor.

I went ahead and installed the heat sink, and wonder if I really need it. After flying my Vampire the motor feels completely cool, not even warm..

So I wonder if I could remove it, and would that give me a bit more trust?
What are you all using on the 12 blade, heat sink or not?

Here's a video of the 14blade in my (first EDF) Vampire:

Well anyway.... for any fan, if the motor does not even get hot you may as well not have a heatsink on it.
The Vampire restricts airflow a lot, so most combos run lower output than they could otherwise, and thus they are running lower Amps and then lower heat.

Removing the heatsink will not give you any thrust change that you could even measure.... so in that term, you can ignore that.
I guess it is more use in saving money terms.... you don't need it on... you didn't need to buy one. You could use it on another fan that does/will need it - if you have one, or intend to get one. Otherwise you could just leave it in the Vampire as it is not a negative, and would still be a very minor positive (as low as 0.0001% positive use, by reducing heat that bit more. LOL)

Hey guys, just to let those interested know, Extreme 70mm CNC alloy housings should be back in stock in a couple of weeks now the CNC equipment is repaired, so the Extreme CS12 fan will be back soon as they arrive. Also I have redesigned the housing and added mounting tabs as standard, its increasing the price a little, but less than having to add brackets and no extra work to attach them.

It's the older can the says nothing on it unlike the newer ones that say Typhoon. Also on this older one i have one of the motor leads is blue? Any real difference in the two motors?

Nope, 2W25 means 2 winds, 25mm long stator, if this doesn't change the kv wont either

I know this is the 12 blade thread but I got 5 flights in yesterday on a nitro planes f-20 a friend gave me. Dropped in a cs10 and a turnigy l2855-2100, by far the best balancing job I've done. It's not much but it was free and it's fun to do touch and go's with. There is a slight howling noise when it gets up to speed that's caused by the back of the canopy vibrating against the fuselage.

Anyone tried the Cyclone power IR570-2000-40 motor on 6s?

wondering if anyone has tried the Cyclone power IR570-2000-40 motor with this fan on 6s? I'm looking to build a pair of motors to run in the LX A10 but not wanting a high amp draw.
Thanks Eric
