Lookout - they are in

Oh boy...just heard from Bob at SoaringUSA that my new Viper is on it's way. I went with the Orange/Black.

I got the feeling the fuse is going to be tight so I will start out by going with a NEU1110-1Y on 4S, CC80 and 4.1x4.1 matched with their new Hyperion servos. If all works out, I may take a look at the 1115/1y on 5S.

Look for pictures in a days and a build thread started ASAP.

Again, thanks Bob for putting up with my almost weekly emails.

The 1115 fits fine (now that Rainer has realised that Neu motors are a fraction wider than Mega and Hacker) but you will need to run all the rest of the gear as rearward as possible as it moves the C of G a long way forward.

1110's and 1112's are perfect.

Looking forward to seing some pics and video?

Rob

Just this:

A few comments:

Says max prop is 15" but video has 16x17

RX: if going 2.4, she is all carbon behind the wing saddle. I fly spektrum and had an ar6200 all ready, but just sold it and picked up ar6250... as there is no way to run a satellite anywhere in here.

Servos: Will take up to 10mm... I am going ds09amg for wing and ds09gmd for tail. Will use hyperion 450mah 2s lipo for rx and cc bec

Misc: see Rob AR's writeup, good tips for the tail servo.

Finally: on 5s, the 16/35/1 on 6.7 and 16x17 should be a hoot... motor is missing! Wanted to go with neu, but the potential wait time is a bit too long for a custom motor, and I wanted something to fit my 5s and 6.7gb (incidentally, I suggest that you stockpile neu motors... I have; they are excellent, and way easier to find a plane to match your motor, than a motor to match your plane). Since nothing good comes to those who are impatient; the mega motor which should have been here before thanksgiving... is still mia; but I have faith in the folks at megamotor usa in WA, I'm sure they'll pull through.

Enjoy!

: megausa said it would have shipped last week... fingers crossed, excited to try them out for a change.

Dude! Nice freaking plane. That thing looks like a hoot. Love the lines and the t tail. Using the folder prop will no doubt result in that wicked noise and accelleration that is sooo fun with HP hotliners; although, for this one, you might have to coin a new catchey phrase, somehow HP hotlining doesn't seem like the right category. Maybe SP Hotlining?

Scary Performance.... ;-)

great pics!! looking forward to your video.

Being that yours is a double carbon, and that Steve won't get the bragging rights for this SoCal screamer (yet), I'm guessing that he's on the calculator now, designing that "special" wind + 5.2 gear box that will take this to terminal velocity ;-)

I say "yet" as a prediction of the future ;-)

Hope to see this thing in action next week.

I've been in love with this plane since day one! What an absolute gem of a model you have there! It sure looks like it can hold a belly full of the good stuff, so it should be pretty easy to make fast.

I can't wait to see how the build and first flights go for you, it should be something else! Although, if it were mine, i'd be tempted to go with a 5.2GB and a 16/35/1.5 (or NEU 1115-1Y), just to save the magnets from those screaming WOT level passes!

Good Luck
Kid

Recommend 4.2:1 gearbox and RFM 15x16 prop.

Push that pack to 150A burst.

Where do you want me to measure from? (i.e. where on LE and where on TE)
