How about a list of terms?

Having been out of the hobby for some time and deciding to return has put me a little behind the curve here. Sooo many new things have come into the hobby with more terms that I'm getting a little lost at times.

How about we start listing down all the terms and their meanings? Not only for people that have been out of the hobby for a while but for people just starting? I think it would make understanding many of the discussions much easier.

Ex: LMR = Limited Motor Run.... I know what it means but what are the actual limits?

Once we have a good list going we could arrange them into a single article and make it a sticky thread.

Here are a few for starters mainly the abbreviations I found confusing at first.

RES= ruddder / elevator / spoiler
CROW= flaps down and both ailerons up for braking (not a bird)
CA= cyanoacrylate glue (not a state)
TX= transmitter (also not a state....go figure)
RX= reciever (not a perscription)
XTAL= crystal uses in TX / RX (has no other meaning but not self explanitory)

I still dont understand the whole f3j f3f yadda yadda yadda thing. Just doesnt make much sense to me. I know that it's something the europeans use and probably thought up by the French......but honestly..... who cares?

Well I know tha the F3F and F3J are different classes of competition as set forth by AMA. Different requirements for planes and tasks for each one etc. If I've figured it out right, F3J is the class for limited motor run competitions. Something I'm interested in getting into.

If I'm correct, the F3 classes contain large, expensive competition planes, so aren't particularly useful abbreviations for beginners/getting back into the hobby, but a dictionary is a good idea.

Another addition for the pile:

2.4Ghz - Newest band of model radio, not limited by channels as is 72Mhz

I remember a thread like this years ago , maybe it is still in the archives, although the terms have no doubt changed since then

Would love a simple list of all the "F" classes for competition and what they entail.

All of the "F" classes are run by the FAI. Do a google search im sure you'll find a list.

F3J: Handtows, duration tasks
F3F: Slope racing
F3B: multi task, speed, duration and distance

F3K: Hand launch

F5J: Limited motor run

F3P: Indoor aerobatics

Just a couple I know
