New class concept

In 1986 I built a 1/6th scale version of a one ton called slip slidding away...and now today I propose to build a one ton class based on the era of the one tons. They were the thing back in the 70's. Requesting plans from designers may be less difficult and thus quick entry. The scale is:2"=1'. So a 39 foot boat is 78" in model form. Since much effort is invested in ROV perhaps some spinoff technology might cross over. To see this model in action go to YouTube and type. Derusha sailing. Input welcomed.....any one ton sailor's out there? DD

Not a one ton - but I do sail a semi-scale half ton.

This one is 1/15th scale so considerably smaller than your boat- 78" is impressive on the water but more "commitment" than I ever could hope to make for storage.

I have a 1/12th scale QT on the board as well as a MORC-Maxi. Someday, they'll get finished!

Thanks DD- She's my own design though loosely inspired by Chuck Burns' "Petrified" which won the '77 1/2 Ton NA's in SF.

I'll assume it's to save time as Dean gets ready to make the trip to Wisconsin.
Dean, looks like we'll have some nice weather. Should have a good group, too. A couple of guys from the Chicago area will be up as well.

The day was overcast but still nice. A good turnout for our club, too. I think I counted 24 people at my house, and that includes a few wives/girlfriends. Warren sailed his 63" Australia, but I don't have any pictures because I was sailing my 54" Frer. There was a 50" Dumas Etchells, a 1M Victor Stars & Stripes and a 36" Cox Trade Winds on hand as well.
We were discussing the sail tune on Australia becasue he was having a hard time holding his course. We switched boats for a while so I could see what he meant. Very twitchy. My first thought was before we go after the fine sail trim we need to get the twin rudders set up better. Anybody have any guidance there? One rudder is on the back of the keel, the other farther astern. Both on one control.

Dave
