Build Log
Chris golds 90" Lancaster

haveing built a couple of these over the past 20 years i still had the plan and a set of cowls and canopies i thought i'd build one for ellectric afetr a couple of weeks this is what i have so far

the little chap in the one i built earlier is the same chap holding the new one (my son nathan)

Not sure about AUW until i get the motors
Though the bare airframe weighs in at 5.5lb aiming at 10lb

useing 4 RC SMART 1160kv motors driving 10x6 master airscrew

with 50amp esc on 4 cell lipo's

This looks like a great project!
Do you know if the plan (including cowls and canopy) is still available? Would love to build one also.

The power set

the second pair of motor's arived today so had to install them all and see what the power would be like. don't think i will be short of power i nead to find a spring balance to check the pull but i think the power out put is comparable to the
4 x 25cu ic motor's i had in the earlier lanc the lipo's i have are 35c 4 cell 4000mah whis i think should be ample to get my heart rate going
Just the wings to cover and then the paint job and thread the cables into the wing

He's doing me a set for AR-G george W4783 which flew from our local airfield at Binbrook with 460sqn RAAF did 90 missions and then flew to austrailia to help promote war bond sales and is now preserved in the war memorial hall in canbera

I found a photo of the lanc i built in 1995 signed by members of 460sqn after i'd flown it at Binbrook for them

Well progress is going well nearly 5 weeks in and the airframe is all covered with armour clear film ready for paint the decals arrived today and the wireing loom for the wing is ready to thread might get to fly it before we go to jersey next weekend at this rate

After a day of painting and a day installing the gear 5 1/2 weeks of building,she's flight ready now it's down to the weather and my nerves

The AUW he come out at 11.1/2 lb a tad over 5kg power to weight is better than 1 to 1 with the 4 cell 4000mah lipo's weather and nerves permitting the miaden should be on Saturday cheers All Andy

The first flight

Chris Golds 90 Lanc (1 min 50 sec)


Well what can i say flew like a dream way over powered but that's what the throtle is for took of in about 10 feet from the grass had 3 flights in all today and got more confident with each one
Thanks to all for the kind words and complements during the build
Another nice flying aircraft for the hanger now for the flight with the Spit and Huri Bring it on !!!
