Dave Robelen was my mentor and dear friend and was one of the most remarkable RC pioneers.... He gave so much love to this grand hobby...
IF anyone would like to have all of the building info to build his classic Pronto series aircraft I can provide ALL the necessary dimensions needed to build this excellent flyer... No plans needed.... Just PM me...
I dont want anything... other then keeping Dave's memory alive and flying.

I've scratch built 2 Pronto's and when my second is worn out, I'll probably build a third. It's a great flying 3 channel airplane. Number 1, the blue and yellow, was built in the mid 80's and folded the wing after about 5 or 6 years of flying. Number two was built in 1994 and gets flown regularly. Both were built from the three view which I found in a Bill Winter Just for Fun column in july 1984 Model Aviation magazine. If you've built a couple of kits, then scratch building this from sketches is something you can handle. This design goes back to early 70's so it's sized to use standard servos and battery packs. It's old school but a blast on flying field.

Thanks for posting Dave's original sketches. It's a treat to see the origins of this plane that has given me so much enjoyment.

Hi Mark.... Nice looking Pronto's indeed.... The orginal spars in the kit were upgraded to using a spruce spar on the top wing.. I help to strenghten the wing... I noted you added the "Half Ribs" they do add a nice touch to the aircraft... the "Super Pronto" had the half ribs added to the orginal kit... I've those plans as well too.. Plus I have HIS green and yellow Parakeet, the one pictured in his Bio.... I also have a NIB parakeet... my second one... Only ones I dont have are the Squareshooter and the Playmate...

For all you guys out there who build planes...I am looking at building this particular plane and it will be my first ever build. Just wondering, where do you guys get the balsa and plywood to make these things? online...in store? and what do you use (I did some research and found out about the different grades, etc). Maybe I should have put this in another thread, but I am asking in relation to this SPECIFIC plane. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, i went around to a few places today and its much cheaper online. Thanks.

Lone Star Balsa has a minimum $25.00 not including shipping & handling.
The last time I ordered from them,I ordered enough balsa & light ply to keep me in building for Quite a while.
I spent a little over the $25.00 minimum.I was happy with the quality of the wood.
