Best sub $50 4 channel?

Hey everyone, I have an upcoming windfall and it looks like I have $50 to spend on my next hit of heli-crack. I recently bought a Syma S107G and love the little bird. I have already modded it to the max without buying upgrades (I AM buying a carbon fiber frame kit...).

The thing is, my 15 year old wants a heli now... I am planning on buying whatever I find to be the best performing, most durable micro heli (4 channel!) that I can find for around $50 and will be giving my son the S107G.

I have read a bit already and see ones like these:

GT 5888
Nine Eagles Solo Pro
Syma S800G
Drift King 340

I have read a bit about each one, and the Syma seems to have a better swashplate design, but the controls are set up crap. Which would you all recommend? Please keep in mind that my heli-crack hit can only be $50, so I am looking for the BEST hit I can get!

If the heli could be RF instead of IR and mostly metal it would be like extra frosting on top, but mostly just durable, 4 channel, and MODDABLE lol

Any and all help will be much appreciated. I have a few ideas for a few birds, just want to start with the best value for my money.

You should consider getting v911. It is a 4 channel, 2.4Ghz , very durable helicopter. In fact, this is a solo pro clone.I have two in my collection and I'm very happy with this bird. You could find a lot of info and plenty of mods in this thread. It costs around 40 bucks rtf. Spare parts are cheap and always available.

I got mine at banggood. Shipping is not fastest but price is just unbeatable. And I prefer yellow one over the original, seems more stable to me.

I am thinking that this video might very well have sold me on the V911. And it did so within 2 minutes.

Fast indoor Flight & cool landing with my WL Toys V911 / Tamco EV.04 4 Channel 2.4Ghz RC Helicopter (9 min 49 sec)

Is there anything better for the price? I am going to have a hard time believing it if there is...

Then I find this one for outdoor flight!

Flying the V911 low outdoors (1 min 57 sec)

I like this video because the guy actually bounces it off the ground on accident and it takes it like a champ. He ALMOST crashes into stuff a couple times, but corrects last second and the heli responds instantly from what I see.

With what I have seen from these two videos I really dont know if there IS anything better for the price. The V911 has me fiending for another hit of heli crack so bad it hurts.

If someone says there is something better for the price I will have a heart attack. I dont think I can be life flighted by micro heli, so I gotta do what I gotta do...

Notice the flight of the V911 indoors. You constantly have to keep your control. It does not do that well in a small space. Not very relaxing to fly. Will take lots of practice. Outdoors you also need lots of space and no wind. It will drift off. I found turning is way to fast (sensitive) for me. I have one and i wish you could slow it down and get a good hover without drifting. I have tried all the trims.Needs lots of mods for me. I also don't like the turning control on the elevation stick. I would rather have it on the other side like the S107g. The guy in the video has had A LOT OF PRACTICE.
On the other hand I have the drift king and it is great indoors. Very stable without the drift. Will hover in place. Nice controller like the S107g (big). You can also turn the lights on and off and change from slow speed to high speed flight. You can also hover, take your hands off the control and look the other way, and it will stay where it was. Needs no mods.
The Drift Kings can be had on Ebay for $28.00 with shipping. I have 2 and plan on a third to custom paint.

I'm flying both my v911 and y911 indoors, and they are VERY stable, they can be hovered hands off with no problem. All you need to do is mechanical trim of servo links lenght as well as trimming the rudder with a remote. Afters that it hovers almost like my s107g.

Plus 1 on the V911, It's a 4ch and it doesn't get boring after 4 or 5 flights. It's a fun little beastie to fly.

At this level the v911 is hard to beat for price and performance. Next along I think would be a Solo pro which by all accounts is as good as the v911 and the the trex 100 which I have read is not quite as good as the other two but does use paddles wich will be different handling. So for your budget it,s a no brainer.

The Drift King looks cool for modding, and I will be picking one up for that purpose, but I am thinking the V911 offers the best bang for the buck. The controller is just plain awesome, it is a fixed pitch single blade, comes with 2 batteries, and has great reviews everywhere I look.

The Drift King looks great, but seems a bit slow, and I dont see much of anyone flying it outside. I will be picking one up for some super secret mods I am planning.

As it stands the V911 is at the top of the list. Anyone got any warnings, or advice?

Well, if you're buying original one, then you should probably get this upgrade. Yellow one already have these things installed. And also, don't forget to do a paddles mod. In my experience, these are two most important mods for v911.

Which version of the V911 do you recommend? A link would be much appreciated!
