Pitts S1-S

I built one smaller version of this model, 21.5" wingspan and, althought it is very tiny and "nervous", it flies very well.
I guess a bigger version would fly better.
Lets find out in the end of this building thread.

Mini pitts flying
Pitts S1S elétrico na praia! (1 min 25 sec)

Enjoy!!

Fuselage

The fuselage is built in two halves direct over the plans. With all these lasercut parts this building becomes easier.

Subbed! Fond of the single cockpit Pitts. Some crop duster pilots flew one nearby when I was a kid. Great plane to watch at airshows in the '70's.

Subscribed! Looks like an awesome project! I'm a huge fan of the single seat Pitts and Christen Eagle.

Looks great, Raphael! I'll add your entry to the Build-Off thread as soon as I get to real computer (I'm using a tiny tablet at the moment).

Put all the strips in the stabilizer. Cut the fin off and added all the hinges.
This part is done!

Landing Gear

The landing gear is made of 2.38mm and the shock absorber is 1.0mm steel.
It is attached to the ply former by a kite tread and white glue.

Fuselage is almost ready

Now the fuselage is almost finished, just in need of the 1/32" balsa sheet covering in the front part.

Cowl

Cowl is made of 3 formers and lots of balsa strips covered with 1/32" balsa sheet.
Nose block is made of 8 round pieces of balsa glued together. Very light and strong!

Continue building...

Now is time to make the upper wing support. It must be exactly the same size as showed in thes plans, this way I can be sure that the wing will be with the right angle.
