Such a shame....

That you can't fit a Mag Mayhem into a MF480 or Kyosho fan.

I was cleaning up the shop and had both fans sitting around and just for kicks put the rotors on the MM and fired them up on 12 cells, with the Ky fan it's actually not bad, only 22 amps and over 300 watts. Silly me, then I was looking at the Ky housing wondering if I could cut the motor mount out and afix the motor to the stators...

The insanity we go through when bored.

The MM will fit in a HW609. I ran an Endo in it a few years ago.

Chris True ran some tests with the Endo and 609 and put the results in an old EDF colomn on the zone, sometime around 2000 I think. I have an entry in my spreadsheet, 39 amps on 8 cells. I think I ran 10 cells, don't recall amps, probably over 50. I may have it written down somewhere.

Well, it is not so hard to do that. Roll a new motor mount tube from three layers of 1/64 ply and CA the layers as you wind the ply around the motor. Friction fit tightly, or make a motor mount from 1/16th ply.

Carefully Dremel away the old motor mount in the fan house and carefully take off a little of the stators, untilt he new motor mount fits. CA together. A little scrap carbon or Kevlar on the new motor mount to stators joint is a good Idea.

I have done this on smaller units with good success.

The scooter is the bomb. Love it. Not 100% comfortable with it yet, but that's do to too many years without a flying EDF. It'll come back.

Sadly it has sparked the bug again, but I can't quite afford EDF stuff, thus the wondering and playing around that sparked this thread.
