Like a Y6 - featuring more lights and sound!!!!

Ready to try my new Hoverfly Y6. Just need the weather to cooperate.

Rusty rev7 frame
carbon booms
Rctimer 2836-11 750 kv motors
APC 12-3.8 props
Turnigy nano-tech 3s 25-50c 4000mah battery
DPCAV power supply filter
"c" shaped wiring harness
50 disk size CD cake box for board protection
foam filter on altitude sensor
Hitec Aurora 9 radio with Optima 9 channel receiver

Motor to motor distance is 25"
Center to motor distance is 14.75"

I mounted the Hoverfly board using the anti-vibration grommets and also used servo grommets on the plate that the board mounts to. So I have twice the anti-vibration protection.

Two of my motors make a little bit of noise so I ordered several more and when they arrive I will remove the noisy motors, pull out the bearings and see if boca bearings has some quality bearings that will fit and if so I will replace the bearings in all six motors.

I will also replace all the prop adapters with the E-flite ones. My local hobby shop only had one in stock. I gave it a try and it runs nice and true so I ordered 5 more.

I would try it as is (without new bearings and prop adapters) if the weather lets up a bit. Windy and rainy.

Until then?

That is so sweet... Would you mind if I copied your build?... I've decided on a Y6 almost exacally as you've chosen to do... Nice work!

Jeff

p.s. Did you have much trouble getting the HF Pro board to fit?

Thanks

Copy away!!!! No trouble fitting the board to Rusty's frame. He has a set of holes just for the Hoverfly board. I did have to reduce the outer diameter of the central frame disks to get the cd cover to fit over them.

Got to have some lights!

Just got some 1W leds to go on mine for nav beacons. Can't leave them on because of current draw so will have to pulse them.

I like the color you picked.

This is so much fun!!! Mine is coming along too. I found some INSANELY bright (180,000 - 280,000mcd) 10mm LEDs that fit perfectly inside the 12mm booms. I glued a red, green and white in the left, right and aft boom and a blue one will illuminate the CD box (oh how I love that CD box idea)...

I'm using KDA20-22L motors with APC 10x4.5 SF props. The ESCs are coming from China and haven't floated this far yet... I may give up and buy locally.

I'll take photos when I have something to show... Nice work!

Hey, workshop, You will love the kda 20-22L They are my favorite. Just cut the shift off and run the screws in adapters with the nuts . You will never have a prop fly off.

Hey I like your new ride, very neat. What did you use to get the LEDs to alternate like that?
