Does anyone happen to know where I can get an electric motor repaired in the vancouver area, it's from a vintage merry go-round and the gears are stripped
It;s been in the family for years, and brought out every xmas.so would like to pass it on It's an AC motor, 5/6 RPM
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Is it a human sized merry go-round?
Check your local yellow pages for an electric motor repair shop.
I had my 5000 watt gas generator rotor re-wound for $400 a few years back.

Just occurred to me, you may be asking about fixing a christmas decoration.
It may just require a new motor. Can you post a photo of the broken parts?

I'm guessing if you removed the cover shown in the photo you will find a set of gears not unlike what you find in a RC servo. The actual motor will be under the gear set. Remove the gears and clean well then relube with light grease. I've seen some of this grease turn into "glue" that is almost impossible to remove When it is all apart plug in the motor to see it it runs. A drop or two of oil may be in order. If it is the type of motor I think it is they do not normally "go bad". They have very little torque so everything must be in top notch condition to work properly.

That looks like a fairly common synchronous timing motor as used in a lot of small appliances, and 5/6 rpm would be about the speed used for the turntable on microwave ovens. It is actually an electric clock motor, that's what it had originally been used in back to the 70's.
