If you are in Raleigh, I didn't have much luck finding Welder locally. I picked it up once in the Plumbing dept at the Lowes in Garner. As for the prop, the 1500KV and the GWS8040 makes a great combo on 3S.

Plumbing isle eh? Interesting... hope handymen aren't using welder for plumbing jobs.

If they don't have it, stop by the customer service desk on the way out and ask them to order some. Our local Lowe's carries it in a 2 pack of 1oz tubes (Homax item # 730634 1106). Might even look for/ask for some Dow PB3 foam while you're at it.

Just maidened my swift

Swift II Maiden (8 min 26 sec)

Flies nicely though it was really windy. I had to add the keychain cam to the nose to get the CofG in the most rearward of the suggestion.

My setup is
Turnigy 2730 1500kv Motor With a Graupner 6x5.5
Mystery 12A
2 Metal Geared Servo's
Rhino 610mah 3s Relatively near the front

What are you guys running and do you find it hard to get the CofG Forward?

Thanks

Brett

You should use Elevon. Otherwise your elevator will not be mixed correctly with the ailerons.

Well life with a Swift II has not been fun. I normally use a friend to trim out my planes but he is not available now. I had a Swift I which flew great. After many hours of flying I retired it and the ni-mh batteries. I should have waited till I could find someone at my club field to hand launch it for me. I could not get my hands on the controls fast enough after what really where poor launches. My Swift was very easy to launch but lighter I think. I broke the nose on the first launch, never did that on my Swift. And on the third launch I broke the GWS 7 x3.5 prop even with a prop saver they appear to be a real weak prop. I tried a Gws 8 x 4 but that seemed to overload the motor. So now repair the bird the best I can and wait for more props. My local hc carries all most no GWS products now. They also don't sell the Swift anymore. CS price with shipping to Canada is a little high.
Maybe I should go fly my Pawnee 40 or Pulse XT 40.

SwiftII owners, don't miss out

still have the swiftII myself and now a Xeno. Both are great but fly diffrnty.
The Xeno tracks better, but swift is just "bouncy fun".
You need ALL wings!!!

I just got my first Swift II (love it) and luckily the guy I bought it from gave me this bit of info before it arrived. Take a look at:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=940867
I used this guy's fix and it works perfect! My previous elevon plane flys so much better with this fix. Check it out - it will make a world of difference.

Got my two first flights on my Swift today. I really like this thing! The first flight needed some trimming and I got the feel for it. The second flight was later in the day and I switched on the lights and did some low flying. They show up really well. I only have wing tip lights, so it's for low light and not totally a dark sky.

Can't wait until tomorrow!
