The largest size might*might work, but I doubt it, and wouldn't even consider it for my bird. You need a motor that is capable of 2-3+kw, and the largest hyperion's range ends at 1800, and so likely, it can't get near 1800, and if it does, it will suck at 2kw, which is nothing for an ion sized heli. go with an actro 32-3.

looks like this one might work with 10s , but the problem will be the mounting , the actro 32-3 is the perfered choice and MA makes the actro heli version kit for it that works great .

The shaft on those Hyperions are 6mm. Doesn't the ION-X have 5mm pinions?

Neumotors is about to release a new range of motors called the 1912 which look very promising on the ION-X. They will be $199.

The motor you saw is their 1521 which is a normal inrunner type motor (15mm stators).

The motors i'm refering too are the ORK's (Out Runner Killers). They are inrunners which have 19mm stators. The larger stator diameter makes them deliver loads of torque at lower rpms but still be much much more efficient that outrunners.

Gary Goodrum is currently testing the motors and they will be available in the next 2 weeks.

That should be 1.5 inch and 1.9 inch diameter stators.

Woops!

I live in a metric country. So many brushless naming conventions are mm based.

I stand corrected.

Thanks for pointing that out Steve.

P.S. I'm desparately waiting for an ORK 1910/1.5 to complete my Logo 14 project.

The Hyperion motors are listed at 1.8Kw at 10-12K rpm. I have no idea how these motors perform at 25,000rpm. But if they dont fly apart or melt, then they should do 3.6Kw or more. The resistance values seem very low, but the Io is what bothers me. Im thinking about using one an an electric bike or scooter. $149 is really low for a motor of this quality.
