Usaf kc-135

Here is a KC-135 tanker. It still needs final markings and emblems. It a bashed E-Flite Airliner. The refueling boom not only extends and retracts but also telescopes in and out like the full scale. Now if I could just figure out how to recharge the batteries of fighters in-flight. This plane was completed specifically for WATTFEST 2012 here in Florida in October.

The nacelles are off shelf bought as replacements. I added some balsa to the top of the engine pylons to make them look more like the full scale. I cut into the fuselage to make the windscreen more acurate, then cut off 3/8 in ch off the nose, then added foam and shaped it for the nose.

Danny,

Looks great!, very nice conversion job, those GE engines are huge for ur model in scale perspective but great for how it's done. See if you can get least scale main gears made or take off middle wheels and add bigger size wheels on same trucks so it looks better. When is Maiden planned for, how long mode, love ur refuelling flying boom.....:

Regarding the in flight battery recharging...

I think it's very possible to do, but I need to stress concern for weight... One, maybe two recharge batteries would be practical. The wiring would be very simple, just wire the battery (or two) to a recharging port on the -135, and a second recharging point to the battery in the plane. Provided one has the knowledge to do it, it should be a 20-30 minute job.

Sweet plane!

Finally got the markings on. I painted it with Behr house paint and the decals wouldnt stick so I put markings on with a sharpie. Not too bad from a distance. Hopefully will have the maiden flight soon. I will try to get video. I will do more work on it after the first flight. Its modeled after the KC-135Rs at MacDill AFB. Close enough for me, its just a big chunk of foam

Finally got it into the air today. I had a buddy fly it while another buddy and I took video. I was pleased with its performance. Next it needs a light kit and retracts.

That is just awesome! Sounds like a symphony when flying. What are you using for batteries?

Wow, the "fix it" ended up making the video terrible, didnt look like that when I reviewed it. We got two more flights on it today and took more video. I will make a new video and not use the goofy "fix-it" option. I am using two 3,000 mA 3 cell Lipos. I will need to time the flight next time. I can only guess the flight was 6 or 7 minutes.
