Mini-Review
another 250 Quad build - aka Mini H quad clone

Hello Guys,
After flying (apart from my helis) my Flip FPV, my 650 hexa and the smaller Ladybug and the Cx-10 it's time for (hopefully) something faster and more fun at FPV.
Banggood send me this 250 carbon fiber version which is a Blackout Mini-H quad clone, but oddly enough on their website it is called the QAV 250, which has a different design compared to this quad. Also with a very similar design there is the "ZMR 250" quad which seems to be just a tad lower on the materials spec according to their website. See below the listed specs:

Item Name: QAV250
Materials: 3k Weave Carbon Fiber
Fasteners: Stainless Steel & Red Metal 8/8
Size: 220mm diagonally, 175mm wide, 130mm long motor-to-motor; about 1/2 the size of a regular quadcopter
Maximum Propeller: 6" (Suggest 5030 propeller)
Motor Mount: M2 12mm - 16mm (Tiger MN1806 2300kv, RCX 1804 2400kv), M3 19mm (Tiger MT2206 2000kv, Sunnysky X2204 2300kv)
Flight Controller Mount: 30.5mm x 30.5mm
Board Camera Mount: 32mm x 32mm

So, back to my mini build and review, I just got it last night, and I managed to do and unboxing video and a thickness measurement of the arms and plates, see below:

250 FPV Racer Quad (Mini - H clone) unboxing (9 min 14 sec)

The cuts and the drilling s on the parts look really good, so first impression was positive so far. I guess the assembly should also be pretty easy at least on the frame, I expect some challenges on the electronics.
Unfortunately the cc3d ordered before the quad kit was "lost" somewhere on the way and sending a new one would take some time, so in order to complete this build I could have to transfer the multiwii 2.5 standard fc that flies on my flip...will have to see on that. As a receiver nothing fancy, will just use a walkera rx-1002 which I have on hand, but on this one the antennas are just too long so I will have to figure out a way to fit it on the quad.

Parts list:

FRAME: http://www.banggood.com/QAV250-250mm...-p-941819.html

MOTORS: http://www.banggood.com/ZMR-1804-240...-p-923424.html

ESC: http://www.banggood.com/Emax-Simon-S...-p-918126.html

PROPS: http://www.banggood.com/Gemfan-5x3-I...-p-937866.html

I will post build updates as I move on with the build and untill then stay tuned, and check the pics I took on the frame and the parts:

Hi,
I know they are very similar, but I guess they could be 2 supplier making the kits ?
- the zmr 250 sells for 23.84$ link here
- the "qav250" sells for 30.99$, link here

Anyone managed to spot some differences?

The QAV250 (AKA Blackout -the real one) is this model:
http://www.getfpv.com/qav250-mini-fpv-quadcopter.html

The cheaper variants are not the same quality in build or parts. I think it was RCModels reviewed the cheaper variants and discovered most weren't actually carbon fiber at all. The difference between the real and cheaper versions is also with PDB etc. Not saying they aren't a good deal or won't work but definitely not the same quality as the Blackout QAV250.

Yeah that's basically all incorrect but I won't get into it.

It's actually explained in the zmr thread I linked. Do people not do research anymore?

Neither of these have anything to do with Blackout. The actual blackout is here. Neither of these are anywhere near Blackout in terms of quality either (well, that's largely a matter of opinion, I guess, but I'm a believer ;-))

Hi Guys,
As stated in the title of this mini build review/log, this is a clone and not the real Lumenier QAV250 or Blackout Mini H quad. Also clearly in terms of quality, features and price there are also differences, but at the end of the day, you get what you payed for, I guess...
I know that Bruce at rcmodelreviews tested one of these mini H clones with not so good results, I guess he got his from e-bay? anyway, so far this one I have lookes preety polished with good holes centering and so far, the only issue is the short motor screws
Just check below the assembled version which I just finished, along other domestic activities
Untill I transfer my FC from my flip and test fly I will not be able to tell how good the frame is or if it is really CF? Speaking of, on a very close look, you could see the tiny layers on the thicker quad arms...

Have a nice starting week guys...

Just a quick update: I tried mounting the motors today (original screws were too short so I had to get new ones) but the motor holes spacing is a bit smaller as the hole spacing on the quad arms.
This means that only in the week-end I can try to enlarge the holes a bit...more waiting for me

You should add these motors as an option. They are the DYS BE1806 2300KV Brushless Motor Black Edition for Multicopters available from Banggood China and US. They are a little less than a dollar more from the China whs
