NEW! Skyzone 3D FPV Goggles

3D FPV is Coming

Splash

SkyZone takes it to another dimension

3D is the latest advancement in FPV. Skyzone is releasing a 3D goggle and camera combo set at the end of January. The goggles have been designed from the ground up and feature a high res widescreen display with a 30 degree FOV. It has dual receivers built in that works in tandem with the included 3D camera and 600mW video transmitter. This provides a crazy 3D flight experience like you've never seen before. The goggles also have head tracking if you wanted to add a pan/tilt setup on the camera for complete immersion.

You get audio/video inputs and outputs on the goggles and also a built in DVR with playback. They carry over the camera on the front from earlier goggles so you can switch to a live view to see what's in front of you. There are so many features on this set of goggles it's almost unreal. Who's ready for 3D FPV! I know I can't wait to try it out and see what this experience will be like.

It's good to see more competition in the 3D FPV arena.

What competition ? There is no such thing because there is no 3D, simply...
Was already demonstrated that 3D sensation based on stereoscopy happens for close objects, under 20 meters, which is not the case for FPV, unless you are planning to fly forest race.
For landscapes simply it don't happen, we don't have the feeling or judge that a mountain is closer than other unless if they overlap partially, but this is perspective, not 3D.

If you want REAL 3D it takes real life technology... two eyes seeing the same thing separated and that requires two VTX's and two VRXs. When you watch a 3D movie and see mountains far away that's a trick and we need the real deal. But just remember like in a full scale aircraft 3D up high isn't going to make much difference and it's down low where it matters so these will be better than nothing and a huge step in the right direction. The best 3D right now is two pairs of DOMHDs hacked into one taking two signals and here is where harmonics come into play and I'll bet my last dollar it's FPV that advances electronics into the new age of tech wonderland. e{a}/t=hv

Edit: Just watched a video on these goggles and the diversity in 3D was claimed to be carrying each cameras signal to each eye separately and if that's how its working then that is awesome. Vision is a deeply complex issue that takes us into the very nature of reality itself but while it's true we lose 3D perception at distance we don't lose it all and motion increases it (even with monocular vision to a lessor degree) and flying between two objects as when flying down in a canyon 3D goggles will be amazing compared to the monocular vision of a single camera used. Our visual cortex uses binocular cells that have receptive fields in different horizontal positions in each eye and these cells are only active only when stimulus is in the correct position in each eye creating a disparity detector for our brain to process information. Much of the advantages of stereoscopic vision are subtle but quite real and it's when objects get close that depth perception is important and this is where people with good 3D vision are being blown away by 3D FPV.

Nope, standard is 63.5mm, ask any optician !
Zeiiss cinemizers are recommended for 58-68mm people, and here fits 90% of caucazians. And they aren't adjustable !
Using these skyzone set at 68mm will be good even for a 72mm person.
