I recently built a Kestrel that had slightly forward sweep. The main problem I ran into was balance. It required more lead than I wanted to use. I finally cut the wing in half and added rear sweep to allow the cg to be moved back. I can forsee this model possibly running into the same difficulty.

That is one big ass Kestrel ! Nice work Joel. Do you have a build log or video of this bird???
Having weight in the nose is not a problem for me, but I DID modify the sweep in post #41 to reduce the nose lead. I find slightly higher wing loadings (15 oz/s.f.) to be beneficial. When the wind comes up, you want to be able to penetrate. I can easily thermal my Plank 101 at 17 oz/s.f. Kent |
