Tell Me About Your PoleCat Oracle 93!

Guys,

I am seriously considering buying a PoleCat Aero Oracle 93" for ALES. I really like the fact that this is a purpose built American product.

I'd like feed back from those who've been flying the Oracle on you power set-up, mods, and overall impressions, etc.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Oracle

Harry

I have been flying the Oracle for about 4 months or so. For power, I have the Motrolfly 2220 motor, a Thunderbird 54 ESC (40 amp is sufficient), and a Thunder Power 45C 1300 3S1P battery. Static, it pulls about 450 watts and 42.5 amps. less when it unloads. I am using HS-56s for the ailerons, HS-65MGs for the flaps, and HS-65HBs for the elevator and rudder.

Launches are rather spirited and it will get to altitude quickly or range out as far as desired in 30 seconds.

Pitch trimming is a breeze thanks to the all-flying tail.

It thermals very well and gives very good feedback.

I am very pleased with the plane overall and would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice weekend flyer and/or a serious ALES plane.

Plus, as you mentioned, it's manufactured by a company with an excellent reputation and based in the U.S.

Only 6 months until the next Polecat, I'm counting down the days!!

I have the prototype , 2piece wing. Its very strong and the 3 piece wing offered now is stronger yet.It climbs to the 200 meter limit in less than 25 seconds. I like how it turns without having to add up elevator to keep level. It flies and thermals great. It will show you when your in lift too. The 1st couple flights with it were 10 minutes on about 100 meter motor run.I was spoiled right off the bat!!! I'm surprised there isnt a thread for it yet.
Good choice

I'll give you feedback when mine arrives - but I can tell you that Fred at Polecat is great about answering questions - and that's a super big plus already.

I'm getting ready to order an Oracle. I'd really like to be able to put the recommended power combination thru one of the calculation programs, like Moto Calc, so that I can see the amp draw with that prop.

I can't find the specs on the motor, did anyone locate it? I'd like to use an existing Thunderbird 36 controller that has been gathering dust, which is why I'm interested in being able to look at prop/performance info.

Thanks,

Gary

See this website: http://www.motrolfly.com/item.asp?id=1099
Also, the motor is almost identical to a Hacker A20-20L.
