Here is the video I made today, winds were mild at about 5mph - 10mph. I made this with my rigged hat cam and most of the footage was sky or dirt so I cut up the vid. I've been flying flat wing, lightweight planes exclusively lately so it's taking me a bit to get used to it. This isn't my favorite flying vid, but it does show some capabilities of the plane. It can fly fast and still be slowed down quite a bit. I actually really like this plane the more I get used to it.

I'm probably the last one to recommend an electric motor so please look carefully. HK sure has a lot of stuff on back order. http://www.hobbyking.com/UNITEDHOBBI...er_1000kv.html I'm an old nitro flyer and stopped flying for about 10 years, about three years ago I got back but flying helies and I'm just getting started with electric planes. I haven't put mine together yet but I'm going to use a EFlight 480 with an 11X3.6, 11X7 or 12X6 all SF props (just what I have at hand) Can tell you that mine will be fat, looks like it will be about 700g without the lipo. I have 1300 mA 120.8 g and 1550 mA 139g. So on the lite side about 820.8 g.I picked up the donkey motor for mine but it just didn't seem very heavily built. From what I have found a 10X4.7 prop is not enough. Khen went to an 11X5.5 with good results. Looks like the one I found is recommending a 10X5 prop, that ought to show how much I know Hope this helps. |

Yak Maiden
Got to fly my Yak for the first time Sunday
To soon to know what to really think. It was pretty windy but had three short flights before I found that I forgot to glue my aileron servos in Running a EFlight 480 and an 11.7 prop but I don't think that puts enough air over the control surfaces. I mounted the rudder and elevator servos per plans but the TPro MG90 were to heavy so I went with some HiTec HS-55 servos I had. With a 1550 mah battery it balanced about half way between the recommended fore and aft balance points and with a 1300 mah battery it's right on the aft point, 130mm from the LE.Hey Khen, Statcounter is a great free tool for your site. I use it on my site and I get a lot of useful info about my visitors, what pages they hit, how long, popular pages, exit pages and on and on. Sam |

Ok I have no maidened mine. I am really happy. I would echo previous comments about using a 11 inch prop. You get much more control authority with a 11 inch prop then a 10 inch one (especially at slow speeds). Just watch those amps. Mine was pulling 24 A with a 10x4.7 SF. I bet the 11 inch x3.7 will pull plenty more than 30A (I have not tested it yet). So I would suggest people don't run 30A speed controllers with a 11 inch prop. 40A ESC's might be safer. I have so far been unable to strip any gears with the hk900 servos I have installed despite my best efforts. I have tried a 1800 nanotech and 1300 longmax battery so far, and both can be set to give a 120 from leading edge cog. The 1300 is definitely more floaty. Overall I really like the plane, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun over what remains of the summer.
The motor below seems to work well for $12.50 shipped (but you need an adapter/mount kit as well). If you want to run more than a 10 inch prop I suggest you keep 1200kv or below. I also got the 1400kv version of that motor , it will pull 45A on a 10x3.8 so an 11 inch prop is out of the question for that kv range. http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?gOo...2&productname= |
