I am looking for a electric speed 400 size dh-88 kit. I have seen the EAM comet and it looks great but I would like just a kit. I thought that RCM Mag sold a 400 size plan but I can't seem to find it. Thanks for any help......Impact

I was just saying on Pat Tritle's "Pacer" thread how I would like to break away from the warbirds for a bit and maybe even "do" a multi . I started on the Turbulent a little while ago, but got back to finish off the Spit & 190.

I'm also keen on getting back to this one that I started drawing up a few years ago at around 50"+ span. Wish I could find some retracts that weigh b r all! Maybe all light with red solite?

Any comet that is reasonably scale faces significant tip stall issues.

Build the wing with washout. I do not have the Quiet Flyer article with me, but that design seemed to be flyable.

In that case I'm taking today off from the warbirds to design my scale Comet wing up.

I've got a plan for a 50" Comet that is pretty scale. I only stretched the wing tip 50% and built in some washout to tame the stall. It will still bite, but you realy have to bank an yank it.

I'm currently shopping it around ot the magazines to have it published. I'll offer laser cut parts and a vacuum formed canopy.

You have good taste in airplanes. I've got two motors ready for this one. My recommendations would be to show landing gear location on the plans for those who would like to do retracts. Keep us posted on progress, I'll be saving my kibbles to buy a kit from you when it's available.

Thanks guys, I'm looking for a comet with a wing span of 36" to 40". Maybe I will get a 3-veiw and build my own but a kit would be much more simple. All I really need is a plan then I can scale to any size I want. Thanks for the help........Impact

The Quiet Flyer plan is 46" / 36 oz, and designed for 2 X 400 (6V), 7-cell Ni battery and 5.5 X 4.5 APC electric prop.

In the article, the designer says that the wing tips are increased to 3" (from scale 2") and tail moment arm is increased by 2". He has been using a pedal launcher but thinks a solid hand launch might work (no landing gear).

The construction resembles Mark Rittinger's designs.

Here are a few more photos of my finished Comet. I flew it most of last summer. I built in a hand grip between the two nacelles for hand launching, but the next one I'm building will have retracts (Robart micros). Hand launching is no problem, and the nacell bottoms are plenty strong for landings.
