Well to tell the truth, I do need to get a 70mm fan for mine. The stock 70mm fan that came with the jet would not fit onto my Cyclone shaft adaptor. So, I have a 68mm 6 blade fan installed on mine. I really need to get a 70mm fan to close off the little gap a have between the housing and outer edge of the blades. After installing a 70mm fan I think it will perform even better. I have not tested the thrust at this time. It does climb pretty well but not unlimited vertical. I like the 3300kv motor as it will give me the longer flight times with pretty good performance. I will post a video later today that was shot this past weekend on it's maiden flight.

My mistake. just looked at the fan it is only a 5 blade fan.

Here is the video of my maiden flight. Mostly trying to trim the jet during flight and ended up having to land because I needed to adjust the pushrods on the rudders for center control surface. If you do not have the rudders centered it could cause some serious headaches trying to trim in flight.

Ok I have read this entire thread! I want this plane.. I am planning on purchasing the receiver ready version from nitroplanes and adding rudder! I was originally going to use the 3000kv motor and esc from one of my dyname meteors and run it on 5S... my meteor screamed on 5S. Then I was thinking... hey I have a SAPAC Mb-1 motor and sapac 70mm fan unit just laying around, why not use this, pair it with a Turnigy k-force 100A exc and also run it on 5S.... but then now I am really thinking! I have just bought an rc lander 68mm fan unit and paired it with a cyclone power 3300kv motor, why not run this with the 100A K-force esc and also run it on 5S.... decisions decisions.... I am still trying to decide if and when I am going to pull the trigger on the jolly roger receiver ready

I also wanted to mention.... Maybe i missed the flight report.... But j3tman we have all been waiting to see the video from your maiden flight... You did the build videos, which were pretty good... But no maiden flight video! Did i completely miss the post where you at least gave the flight report from your maiden flight... Just wondering... I followed this thread pretty carefully for the first 40-50 pages... Then had to skim from there... But no flight video.... What happened?

I was thinking the same thing thought I had just missed it!!! I ordered the same set up he was talking about using but never saw any flight results? Found some interesting info here on sapac performance.

The plane in the video looked much faster than stock and sounded better as well. My next question will be will the 85 amp speed controller and motor set up handle five cells? It never ends!!!

The Cyclone 85amp esc can go up to 6 cells. Let me know how your test goes with the motor on 5 cells. What is draws on amps and the watts it produces. I think the 85amps would be suffient. Maybe with the Change Sun 4 blades fan it would work out just fine. Fewer blades would draw less amps right? Give you more speed?

More air out is good!! Girlfriend just pcked up my new fan assembly, Castle rc in Hong Kong great service so far.

Not always, watts and thrust in EDFs these days aren't in concert...1800 watts doesn't mean >6 pds of thrust on a 70mm.

There are plenty of fans that eat watts like no tomorrow and don't produce the static thrust and eflux that is need.

Make a thrust stand, static test your fans with a watt meter...best way to get what your getting out of your fan.

Just installed SAPAC fan and all I can say is wow. When it stops snowing I'll give it a trY!!!
