Broken boom - 4m DG-808s (Pic heavy)
I managed to break the tail off the boom of my Flyfly 4m DG-808s following an aileron servo cooking itself fully deflected down. The resulting spiral dive did not end well...
I could have spent £120 to get anew fuse delivered from China, but I thought I'd give it a go myself...
Step 1 was to re-attach the tail with epoxy.
Step 2 was cutting an access panel (using one of the cracks as a starting point) to give access to the inside of the fuse.
Step 3, use the access hatch to insert Kevlar tape and epoxy across the joints.
Step 4, once structurally sound, refit the access hatch and begin to fill the gaps.
Step 5, after a few fills/sand sessions, its basically flat and straight.
Today I was able to spray primer and wet sand to find the last few bumps/dips. Tomorrow I should be able to spray white!
