Unless you have some sort of prior experience with model airplanes or a good, working knowledge of aerodynamics and basic flight principles, a wonderful day could turn into a really bad one in about 30 seconds.... ![]() Strongly encourage you to seek the help of a friend who has experience with RC aircraft before the maiden; although the T-28 is a very good model for a relatively new(ish) pilot, it's also a very capable airframe and can get away from an inexperienced pilot fairly quickly... Not trying to rain on your parade...just trying to be the umbrella ![]() John |

Well, I fly electric because it is nearly SILENT and anyone that adds sound to make it noisy must be nuts. If you want noise get a gasser. Just my 2 cents.
I fly at our field early in the morning with a few other e flyers and when the gas and glow guys show up I pack up and leave. Tom Moody |

Danny, John: Thanks for the warnings. In fact there is a fun fly this weekend so maybe I will take it there and see if someone will maiden it for me.
I have checked the aileron and they are operating correctly, as walter3rd describes. I had to adjust a couple of the linkages to align the surfaces and the left and right aileron now have the same amount of movement up & down. But I am sure some fine tuning will be required once in the air. I understand these models are a bit nose heavy so I expect some elevator trim may be needed. I have been able to master the t28d with Phoenix set on the advanced setting for this model. My heli experience should be of some help as well. So I think I am as ready as I am going to be. But that said, I'll see if I can find a mentor for the 1st flight. If I can't, I have foam ready ca standing by. Wish me luck. |

^ Just dont be in a rush to get it in the air on take off. Let it role and pick up speed as you increase the power progressively to about 3/4. Then very gently give just a bit of up elevator and it will float off the ground with good airspeed.
Be prepared to give pitch and role corrections once off the ground just in case your not trimmed very well at first. With each of my PZ T-28s I've found they want to climb slightly with perfectly neutral control surfaces with > 1/2 power. I mechanically trim the elevator linkage down maybe 1 to 2 turns from flat. |

Ronald, please DO NOT equate "mastering" the T-28 Trojan on a sim to actually flying the plane for real. Sims teach you somethings and lie to you about others. I believe you are doing the right thing in going to a club and getting someone to setup and maiden it for you. You may even get one of those folks to "buddy box" it with you. Good Luck.
