the gear was a tight fit.. but the weight up front is needed to balance the model..

Right on, now go fly it!

It should be a great performer in medium wind , looks sweet!

I had a stupid moment yesterday when working out the loadings... I completely forgot I had scaled the model for a 2" bigger span.. (old age is creeping in) It came to me as I woke up this morning , so I checked my area and found it was 2.1sqft..
with a weight of 190gms...6.7oz the loading is 3.19ozsqft...
This is bang central on the treks quoted 3.1-3.3..

It will be interesting now to see how it performs... as mostly its just the wing section that is different...

INFO......
I found the old flitetest review of the Alula , and at that time their flying weights were 209 and 219gms on the models they had put together... It will be interesting if I can measure their flight times on a chuck up...
I know I cant throw at all well but a comparison of sorts might be possible

The model has had some test glides and some discus chucks and there are problems...lol.. its me.. as I thought, I cant chuck it up more than about 30ft, then I am poor ( that's being polite) at flying it...
after a chuck and left alone its going/gliding nicely. it seems quite smooth and has a fast enough glide..
I am pleased with the results... the COG was fine, its very responsive to elevator inputs which says its near spot on... turning was fine.. but I was giving it too much stick and kept loosing height quickly
roll on a slope trip...

some video of just how useless I am at the DLG game.. being old and knackered does not help, I was very out of breath doing this.. that's why I go powered more often than not...
however this A-clone seems to have a fair glide so it looks like it will go well off the slope, and that's what mine is for..
.
A Clone 38 KFm11 trimming throws 13 5 2015 (4 min 51 sec)

Looking good Dave. Hope to see some video of the new A clone on the slopes.

Nice looking bird, it's got a great glide, it should really perform on the slope!

I've got a south blow right now, but i don't have a day off to hike up and fly the sleds, it's been hitting up to 45mph the past few days, slamming the big wall. The mountain wave is ridiculous, i can see uplifting vapor over the ridge screaming upward.
