Herr Mini Sport setup? please help
I am getting ready to build a mini sport and I have a few questions.
I plan on putting alerions on but I am not sure what the best way to go about this is. Should I just add a solid piece of balsa to the trailing edge and tapper it? Any advice would be helpfull.
Now to the more important question, the power system. I was thinking about using an astroflight 010 with a 6x4 prop and 6-8 600 mah cells. I was wondering what power system setup would give me good performance (loop from level flight) and what type of flight times I could expect.
any input on either issue would be gretly appriciated!!!!!!!
Looks like you got no responses.
I have the Herr Rally which is not the same plane as the Sport but I am running an Astro 010, 6x3 folder, in it.
I have flown this plane more than 30 times.
Last time out these were flight times;
6 cell 2/3 AA battery pack 8 minutes
6 cell 2/3 AA battery pack 7 minutes
7 cell sub c battery pack 11 minutes (ton 'o power)
8 cell AAA battery pack 12 minutes
Pros say the 010 likes more cells so you might consider that too.
I can loop from level flight early on, when the battery has lots of snot. The Rally is kind of an 80% scale Skimmer so not great for aerobatics.
You can build ailerons out of solid balsa. Doesn't take a huge aileron movement to turn a plane either. On My Zipper I used monocote for the hinge all the way along the aileron. They only deflect up and down about 3/16" but that is plenty.
Herr kits build great. Have fun!
