Help!
Boscam FT958 vTX fried?

Dear all,

I have received a Boscam FT958 600mw 5,8 Ghz transmitter that I ordered online.

The transmitter doesn't work on power up, there are no LEDs showing any activity.

It also smells like "burned plastic". After looking at it carefully I noticed there is a small microchip that looks "fried".

It's a 6 pin chip in SOT23-6 format with the inscription X9C.

I've made a photo and marked the chip.

Anyone has any idea what that chip is and what it does?

Hi,

That would be the DC-DC buck converter to convert your 12-16V 3-4S battery to 3.3V or 5V.

A friend told me that it might have been damaged by powering on with reverse polarity, which adds up to the DC-DC converter being fried.

Any idea which DC-DC converter I could buy to replace the fried one?

Doesn't look like there are any low cost ones on Ebay when searching for sot23 dc buck. What I would do is find the output pin and what the output voltage should be (possibly from someone else who has it, likely going to be 3.3V) and buy a dc-dc buck for ~$1 off Ebay and hook that up to it, not the best solution vs a direct chip replacement but something that will get you up and running.

That will be the 5 volt supply. There are easy to get from digikey but it's the configuration that is the pain to match.

INN9259.
Available, for example on ali but still, probably just wiring 5V here should be enough...
