Ummm...Biplane Jet?!

Looking around today I came across the Taft Hobby Quantum jet. What is interesting about it is it's a biplane! I don't see the point in this. I mean sure it looks cool, probably has more lift, and a faster roll rate, but doesn't it seem like it's just extra weight for nothing? It seems more like a "show off" jet than a performance jet. I saw a video on youtube (I'll put the link below) it doesn't look very fast for a jet of that size. Takeoff looks pretty good, but it has an extra wing, so that probably contributes. I don't know... Does anyone have it? If I'm wrong about the performance of the jet I may get one. It does look cool

The reason is more wing area with little extra weigh so more aerobatic.

Been done before. There is even a jet 'F3A' aerobatic FAI (international) completion class, which of course means biplanes are allowed and some are used. A common jet, specifically designed for this class, is the Sebart Avanti.(Not the new small one and not a biplane.)

A friend of mine has one and I have seen it fly. With the standard 6S setup it flies nicely (kind of like a small pattern plane) but it is not terribly fast. I thought about buying one but decided to pass. IF you could fit an 8S system in it it might do well but I don't know if there is enough space for an 8S set of batteries.

A10pilot there is a huge amount of room under the canopy to fit up to a 12s setup granted it's not at all practical but there is more than enough room.

I just got one for pattern comoetituon around the Pacific Northwest. I will be doing the maiden flight today and will post my thoughts on the flight characteristics. I am doing a 7s 5300 power setup so it should have some poop on the upline.

Been flying mine for about two months and really like it. As stated it's an acrobatic jet, not a speed jet. It's very groovy and goes where it's pointed. The rudder is very powerful.

Interior room is huge, you could fit all kinds of batteries inside, on the stock 6s gives decent power but not unlimited vertical. With all four ailerons working the roll rate is good and on landing I can set the ailerons up as flaps which makes for some nice slow landings.

For me it's a fun, different plane to play with.
