What to get to get into DS (on a budget as Kiwis are Cheap)

So I have some guys interested in starting out in DS (perfect time to strike em as they are frustrated with Mini quads and helis and looking for something to fill the adrenaline bug!) but they are put off by the price to get things I recommend to their door (JW, K2m, my crack waxer etc etc)

So what do I tell them to get? I feel they need at least a 60", and am stuck at that point. Is pointless us getting anything in USD as the exchange rate is worst it has ever been!

Only thing I can think of is a Windburner. . . But they are worried about composite stuff... They all have a light Beevo as I made them all one, but light Beevo don't DS well as they don't have inertia needed to get decent training circuits going.

This is a perfect opportunity to get others into DS, and hopefully rekindle some DS action in CHCH but again I am stuck by peoples budgets....

PLEASE HELP!!!!

By the way, we are seeing a local DS resurgence too. Time to refresh the ranks a little bit. It is so much more fun to fly with friends than alone!

Thanks Aaron, you were the first person I sent them all to. But seriously, exchange rate has gone from 84c to about 60c, so a massive massive change and extra cost for us now

Does a heavy Bee not work well outside of Weldon? No one seems to have built one besides me.
What about something from Off the edge like a zipper? How's the exchange with the Aus$?
Maybe you can get Joe W to scratch out a quick design.

Weldon DS. Low speed figure eights. JW vs. Bee. "Foamy furball" (0 min 25 sec)

I have a 30 oz BeEvo that is super fun to DS in most average conditions. They are really finding that the lighter ones can't complete circuits?

It might be an issue with the flying site Dom. I have flown some spots where having a more weight made all the difference to get through a huge shear.

beevos and/or Scout bee from windrider.

I've flown Dom's beevo at both parker and weldon. had it up over 100 at weldon and was super easy to fly circuits with. Hell I've got an older one that Chronic DSr gave me with a broken spar in it and it still flies great! I've got a new beevo that I built up using Stu's suggestions,, nice carbon ribbon spars and TE spars... fiberglass rod in the middle. Can't wait to cover it and I expect it will fly hopefully as well as Dom's. Just my two cents. Huge beevo and/Scout bee fan. ( I have both)
