Some SYMA s033G modifications from Holland

Bought my Syma s033g a week ago and did some mods already.

First installed a switch to turn the lights on/off.
Used a piece of silicone tubing to guide the antenna wire (tested a longer antenna to but the range did not extend, it got shorter in stead)
Rewired the battery and bought a new one so I can easily switch battery's in the field. used a piece of elastic band to secure the battery.

Used two pieces of carbon fibre to create a possibility to attach things to the helicopter.

Improved the tail rotor by taking a set of old syma 107 main blades.
It has so much power now I can make it flip (when not flying) over in the fast mode. when not care full.

And I made a rc camera controller to attach on the bottom.
Still need to buy a little spy cam to connect.

Cant add pics?? am I doing some thing wrong or should I use photo bucket

Thanks for the photo. I think I'll try that with a pair of my spare 107 blades. I did the 2 S033G tail rotor blades and could tell some forward improvement, but not great. My 107 main blades are bit longer when put together than as yours are shown. I may overlap them some to get about your size. Also, I'll have to figure a way to make the assembly so that I can attach it to the motor.

Turin, you're a genius. I just modified the 033 tail rotor with the 107 blades and this 033 goes forward like CRAZY. The wind was blowing about 2 to 3 mph and the heli went into the wid quite fast Thanks for the info.

How are you guys attaching the 107 wings to the tail rotor wings? glueing them or putting the whole thing on there? Any tips?

Are you cutting them and gluing them onto the stock rotor blades?

Cut the rotors like shown in the pictures of fs2flyer.
And take some tape aply the tape on the top put some glue on the bottom put it on the stock rotor and fold the tape. it will be stronger and look better than glue only

I used 5-minute hobby epoxy and glued them to my spare tail rotor blade.

I did a slightly different mod to my 9053, as they seem to use the same lame tail rotor. I'll post pics later whan I'm at home.

But you are right...make it quite dangerous. I can almost flip my 9053 over with the power of the tail rotor. You have to be careful not to over burden the motor, and it will require one to relearn some flying technique, as my 9053 now very easy nose dives (the tail goes up so fast). Additional throttle is required.

opened the controller today and noticed that the wire connecting the switch board to the antenna is very thin and soldered real bad . removed the wire put in a much thicker wire and soldered it properly, I have not done a range test yet.

Couldn't find the mass of the transmitter other wise it would be better installing a piece op coax wire.

One more change that has made access easier for me - quicker removal of the front cowl. I frequently remove the front cowl to check motors and battery and found the upper rear attachments were HORRIBLE to remove, so I'm keeping the pins out of the holes and now hold the rear portion in place with a rubber band. I glued two T-pins to the rear interior of the cowl and attach the rubber band to each end and run it umder the tail boom as shown in the photos.
