I'm ready to resume casual park-flying, so I wanted to start by replacing my well worn GWS Pico Tiger Moth, which one of the cats has now chewed up. However, I gather it has been discontinued (the plane, that is).

I see GWS Pico Tiger Moths online, but charging $14.99 to $19.99 for shipping a $42.99 NPS kit and billing only via PayPal stinks of a scam--not to mention a rip-off.

Due to financial constraints, I want to keep using my 72 MHz transmitters, NiMH battery packs, and other radio gear. I have motors, speed controllers, servos, and props, mostly for GWS stuff but also some RTF things given to me. Hobby Zone wants $29.99 for the battery pack for my AeroBird Challenger!

I have enough viable Slow Stick parts to build another one, but I really wanted another Pico Tiger Moth. Can anyone suggest a readily available, cheap alternative that could use much of my existing stuff? I like that plane's slow and forgiving flying traits.

I've forgotten much of the nomenclature, but I have servos, speed controllers, and battery packs for the GWS Pico Tiger Moth, Slow Stick, and Tiger Moth 400. Most of the stuff is installed in pieces of machines out of convenient reach, so I can't easily inspect it. Other items are victims of my better half's "reorganization" efforts, so I'm not sure where in the house they reside at this moment.

I like scale-looking planes, which I suppose is why I'm not eager to build another Slow Stick or go for some of the similar options suggested. That Pico Cub looks like a good deal.

The GWS Beaver uses a PicoStick wing and runs a 300 series motor.

Good luck on finding a Beaver in stock - I don't think they exist anymore.

The Fly lite is also an excellent airplane and GP makes a small Tiger Moth similar to the Pico, but balsa construction

Also the GWS E-Starter is a good 4 channel plane which could use the same power set up as your Moth 400 did.

The Gws Pico J3 Cub is a good little flyer and all of the parts from the Pico Tiger Moth will work with it. I currently have one Cub and three Tiger Moths.

I wasn't aware that the Tiger Moths were getting hard to find. A guy that is getting out of flying just recently gave one to my Son in Law complete with a brushless motor, ESC and servos. All it needs is a receiver and a battery and its airworthy.

Get some DollarTree foam and build your own.
