KST Owners Thread

So who has been DSing them? Experiences, warnings, advice, reputable sellers etc etc....

Was going to use some in my Crack Waxer

More talk gives those wondering more info

I have been using some 245s in my 200+mph electric pylon model and also my ALES model. I think they are fantastic, but longevity is the test. Wires are quite thin and unsupported where they exit the casing. Nothing some silicon or hotglue can't fix and haven't had any issues as yet

Alex

The AFP that you flew to 229mph had KST125's in it. I have stripped a few gears but not anywhere as many as in the Hyperion Ds095 metal geared servos.

I have mostly used the KST125's and they are good for the price, strong with a bit of slop but not a huge amount. Probably the best servo in the price range .. BUT they are not even in the same league as the MKS6125's.

Jono

Not sure about these servos. They half different centers for different voltages. May just be my servo tester though. Gears are tight and smooth and performance seems really good though. Will report back once more testing done

I thought it odd that their torque is less than their standard range servo?

4.6Kg @ 6V
6.5 Kg @4.8v

Vs

6Kg @ 4.8V
7Kg @ 6V

But I am interested on you coments regards the servo its self, more so gear train, slop, and then we see how long it lasts.

Also the HV are a bit more expensive

The hear train slop on my particular servos seems as good as the mks i have used previously. Going to run on a 2s lipo so Will see how they last

Hi Alex, I have been using the Turnigy s712g from Hobbyking for a couple of years now. The dimensions, torque and speed are identical to those stated for the KST125mg - I suspect they are the same servo with different labels.
I have the Turnigys in 3 planes that have all DS'ed - into the low 200s so far - flap servos on my 2.4m 'Perpetrator', elevons on my 'planktopus' flying wing and all four wing servos in my BM60 (60" conventional - I make my own one-off planes). So far they have performed faultlessly and survived some hard arrivals. Picked the last four up for $20 each from the HK's UK warehouse, must have been a sale!

Hey Hobster, Ive used them a lot too, and agree that they are the same servo. I have found them flawless too.

I have a Turnigy S712G that I stripped the gears. I tried fitting the KST 125 gears but could not get them to fit. I had unfortunately thrown away the stripped gears so I could not compare and they looked the same but I wonder if the gears are slightly different.... or perhaps I just have no clue what I am doing

THe gears are slightly different between all the servos, even the mks 6125s seem to have two slightly different gearsets
