Pilots From All Over the Map Come to Soar

The North Alabama Radio Control Association is pleased to announce their fifth annual Huntsville area aerotow event. In the past they have had pilots from as far away as Michigan, Texas, Florida and North Carolina with a large contingent from the local area and surrounding states. This year they are expanding the event to four days beginning Thursday, October 3. You are invited to join in on the fun for a long weekend of incredible flying and great southern hospitality.

Come find out more about this growing trend in RC flying. Current AMA membership is required to fly. We will host sailplanes with spans up to 8 meters with scale and dedicated tow planes ranging from 1.20 glow to 150cc gas. Epps Field is located north of Huntsville in Harvest, Alabama. It is a private grass strip and is home to NARCA. There is plenty of room for aerotow along with other amenities including frequency control, facilities, concessions and camping (no hook ups). You are guaranteed to have a good time whether you come to fly, learn or just watch.

Tow Ticket: $35 for four days or $10.00 each day

Sanction Number: 13/1280

Jason,
Thanks for highlighting the NARCA Aerotow. We are expecting a good turnout, typical southern hospitality and favorable weather.
We encourage anyone who is the least bit interested in this facet of RC to attend. There will be plenty of experienced pilots to answer any questions you may have and it is a great venue to enjoy the early Fall weather. The "NARCA Burgers" have a great reputation and I'm sure there will be some other new and interesting concessions as well.
We will have plenty of towing power for the seasoned aerotow enthusiast. There will be a couple of sailplanes in the 8 meter range, a much larger grouping in the 5-6 meter range and a host of foamie sailplanes and stick-builts in the 2-4 meter range. As for towplanes we are expecting some 40% sizes with 120cc-170cc engines down to "Sticks" with 1.20. Come join us!

Bradley, that would be cool to come over, but I've got a lot of work left to get my ASW-28 ready for the aerotow. I want to fly it on Friday and Saturday....yikes!...only a week left!

Guys, the weather is looking great for the NARCA Aerotow next week. I've got my Super Decathlon tuned up and ready to tow. With that big DLE-170 on the nose it will TUG!

Hey Andy,
I just might! I don't have any towable sailplanes right now, just slopers and electric, but it would still be fun to hang out with all you guys.

Jason,
Come on down. We have plenty of planes for you to fly. We'll probably put you to work on a towplane, too. We sure would like for you to shoot some aerial videos for us.

I want to come, but it is looking less and less likely...

Do you guys plan on doing any aero-tow at HHAEFI? It seems the only time I ever get to see it is for the Blanik demos.

That video was great! What the weather look like in Huntsville Saturday? Doesn't look so good here in Nashville.
