VQ Models F-82

VQ Models F-82
Well I haven't seen any builds on this Warbird so I thought I would start one.
The plane is a little smaller than I imagined an 80" plane. The quality is on par with other VQ Models warbirds. Here are a few pictures and feel free to jump in.

Well right out of the box I noticed a couple of things. The elevator uses mini servos not full size. You actually have to cut the wood out to get full size servos in the wings.

Here are a few pics of the fuse and battery area. Also this is the area in the fuse for the rudder and tail wheel servo.

I am doing electric with this airplane due to twin motors. I will be using AXI motors and have not decided on the props I am going to use. I will be using 5 cell 5000mah batteries (Turnigy). The three blades are Master Airscew 14X7 counter rotating props. I would like to also try some APC four blade counter rotating if I can get them. CB Associates spinners 3.5 inch is the correct size.

In your title heading you labelled the F82 *VW* instead of *VQ*.

That link was a notice not a discussion or build, Tomas was just letting people know it was available.
Also fixed the title, didn't notice it.
thanks for pointing that out.

I will need to take a trip to the Air Force Museum to look at the plane on display there. There are some details I might want to add. I noticed the plane has the retracts in the wrong place.

rudder and elevator

Ok, I need to decide how to run the elevator servos. Do I put each on a separate channel or put the push rod on top of one and the bottom of the other. I guess it will depend on the geometry of the elevator and servo position. Looks like I could do either, any suggestions?

I think I will just offset the rudder servos so I can do those on one channel.

elevator servos

Ended up with the elevator servos on two different channels. You will need 8 channels to set this airplane up properly.

elevator servos

I did replace the HD 1705MG servos with Hitech MG servos, they seem much better.

Busy

Well I have been very busy and was able to get the maiden and two other flight completed. First I must say the plane flies very well. I was surprised at how well it flies. Counter rotating props are great. Went straight down the runway. Five Cell ,5000mah batteries worked great.

Video soon
