How do most people place their RX in this ? Does the aerial need to go outside the foam?

I noticed the COG was basically the centre of the small bumps just above the carbon spar brace.

P.S Does everyone spray some water/detergent on the body before applying decals to allow you to 'move and smooth'?

Ok I basically wiped the wings with detergent and water, applied the decals, took the air out and ran the hair dryer over them.

Lipo packs took about 850Mah to bring up to full charge, COG seems perfect with the pack all the way to the front.

Tried the radio and all control surfaces responding fine and throws seem good, couple of points of trim in one channel to balance both ailerons and it also took out some of the servo chatter.

All that is left is to attach the prop and maiden.......

I converted the GP XPD-8 to a pusher prop wing. When I saw this Wing Wing Z-84 kit I had to have it. Very well packaged, very nice foam (like my funjet). I powered the XPD-8 with a Dons Wicked motor and 4.1x4.1 on 4s. She was clocked at 113mph.

What speeds and setups have you guys been running ? If your not sure just post a video of a level pass (with audio) and I can do a speed check for you. The XPD-8 has the vertical stabilizers on the end of the wings (winglets). They break so easy it is not even funny. I have high expectations for the Wing Wing Z-84. Although I have not built it yet, so far I am impressed !

Am really happy with the thing - this is stock standard setup on 2S 1600 Nanotech. Ran for over 5 mins and only put about 300Mah back in the pack.

Want to go out and have a really good hammer on this thing now! Great little kit and HK have just released the new 1200mm EDF version! That thing would rock!

You will really enjoy this mate - some people reckon they have gone up to 4S with it.

Only thing I am not 100% happy with is I can't seem to get good throws on the servos.....

Well that is where I am going with it. The 4s setup in my XPD-8 will be moved over to this plane soon enough !

if I wanted to stay light... could the stock motor take 3s on stock or smaller diameter and pitch prop?

I don't have a collection of 2s batteries... plenty of 1000mah and 1300mah 3s though.

Save the stock motor for something else and do yourself a favourite and buy one of these rippers http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_3000kv.html run it on 3s 1300 and a 4.1x4.1 and it will scream.

thanks aeromaniac, that looks like a great choice, but i don't want to wait for snail mail from HK. I have since found a techone C20 2050kv 26g in amongst the quagmire from projects past.

I might try that one with a 5x5 or 4.75x4.75 apc or something similar and hope my 12a plush can cope..... perhaps not as speedy but should get the job done for now....

otherwise I'll go up a weight class with an OBL29/27-07A 2700kv http://www.tiger.com.tw/product/2358.html - but i'm reluctant to add the weight of a larger battery for CG.

I had a $30 credit on HK so just ordered a WingWing kit from their US warehouse.
Already have a few ESCs, 3S 1300mAh batts, 9g servos and an extra 4-ch RX so all I should need is a motor.

aeromaniac - you mentioned that you tried, or were thinking of trying a Radjet 800 motor. Did you ever do this?
I have a couple of stock 1850kV Radjet motors collecting dust (upgraded my radjet a bit with twin 2826 2200kV motors ) so would like to make use of one.
3S @ 1850 kV = 23000 rpm
you're running a 3000kV motor on 3S right? that would be ~38000 rpm.
I have a variety of 5x5, 6x4 and 6x5 props so could do some experimenting.

My Radjet and a EDF Stinger satisfy my need for speed, the Wing Wing would be for more relaxing flights in smaller spaces so not interested in balls to the wall top end speed.
Would like to get 5-6 minutes out of a 1300mAh pack. Any longer than that and the pilot needs a break...

I've got two modded Z-84 Wing Wing's ...

The first is with a 2826 2200kv motor running 5x5 prop. Draws 20A and 225W ... flies like a bat out of hell.

The second is with a 64mm EDF fan (ex-Stinger). Draws 30A and 322W ... not as fast as pusher prop version above.

Both still lots of fun in small field

Hello: I'm an helicopter adict introducing to wing world. I've flown a walrus bird from hobbyking and this is my second airplane. The question is about motor, of course, because I have some motors at my home from multicopters and little helicopters and I'm plannig to mount some of them to my z-84.

My first option is a 2623 4500Kv motor with 5x3 prop at 2S with zippycompact 2200 35C.:




I things I have too much kv and I confused what prop to use.

Ok you know it's too much kv, but your prop choice is way off, for a start the 5x3 will not be able to cope with all the rpm, your could try something around 4" with a low pitch, maybe 3" or less. A 4x2.5 might work.

One more question: how many trust I need to fly it and feel confortable but with enought throttle to enjoy at the beginning? I'm planning to cut throttle to avoid very high rpms and I'll do it using the trust.
