2.4Ghz turnstile antenna a bad idea?

This is primarily directed towards IBCrazy and any others who have first hand experience using a turnstile antenna on 2.4Ghz.

I have read through the turnstile posts on this site and over on the lab, but I haven't been able to find a conclusive opinion as to whether this antenna performs well or poorly on 2.4Ghz. In some of the early posts I read, IBCrazy seemed almost excited about the antenna and said he would consider building the turnstile with an IPEX connector for the 2.4Ghz folk. The most interesting post stated he designed one for a client and sent it out to him but I couldn't find a post explaining how that antenna performed.

I cant find a turnstile for 2.4Ghz commercially available, so I am led to believe there must be an issue with it somewhere. Anyways, I'd really like to hear from someone who has experimented with this, especially you Alex! Thanks

Ok, just tested out the the 2.4Ghz turnstile antenna. I flew out 6.5 miles, roughly 10.5km, and signal strength was outstanding. I did not experience a single glitch. Range was limited by my 5.8 setup which had gone from grainy to totally colorless to impossible to make out any detail on the ground so I turned back haha. For what it's worth, RSSI showed 100 at the 6.5 mile mark, and only dropped to 95 for a very short moment at one point earlier in the flight. However, on the way back, at about 4 miles it was ranging between 35-80 for about a mile, then back up to 100.
