Subscribed. B-17 is my all time favorite. Mom got me a ride in Texas Raiders for my birthday a few months back. Loud noisy, smokin, flame belchin start up, and vibration. Loved all 30 minutes of it. I have a ATI B-17 at 104" ws that just doesnt seem adequate now. I've been trying to figure out how to do a Don Smith build in the distant future.

Howzabout a few B-17D PHOTOS for help?

Dear Warbird Cowboy:

The PIPE Here...as there is ONE original B-17D remaining in the world, the USAF Museum's "The Swoose", I did a Google Images search for you on that particular aircraft for some help on your upcoming project...

...if I could ever do up one of Lt. Col. Robert Rosenthal's B-17s, especially his "Rosie's Riveters" B-17F aircraft someday with one of the WIngspan kits in 1/6th scale much as you're doing yours with a quartet of radials, now THAT would be some "magnum opus" (great work) for an aeromodeler's time in the hobby, believe me!

There's a sideview and nose profile from my hard disk of his most-often flown 100th Bomb Group's "Rosie's Riveters" Fortress attached to this reply to show you what IT looked like in WW II...

...hope those photos of the B-17D being restored at the USAF Museum can help you out, even just a little...!

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE....!!

Hi Warbird Cowboy – good luck with this project, makes my Guillows B17 conversion to electric RC look a bit small, but it was great fun – the B17 is just a great looking warbird! I shall be following with interest.
Best
Charles
