Quite a few people seem to be chomping at the bit to select their entries for this so I thought I would put the thread up a few days early.

The build off is for ANY model (no cut off date) whose design is credited to one of the following 13 leading designers:

Vic Smeed, Phil Smith, David Boddington, Bill Dean, Eric Fearnley, Carl Goldberg, Ken Willard, Don McGovern, Bill Winter, Dave Platt, Emmanuel Fillon, Karl-Heinz Denzin, Hoh Fang Chiun

So....the build off will run from 1st Octoberl 2016 to 31st March 2017. Models may be scaled up or down, power unit changed - e.g. IC to electric, rubber to IC or electric, glider to IC or electric - and also type of flying - control-line to R/C, F/F to R/C, R/C to control-line etc. Constructional methods and materials can be changed but the external appearance of the model should be retained. To qualify for the final poll a model must be finished but not necessarily have flown. A build log is much preferred, but as a minimum a photograph of the finished model is acceptable.

Please head the first post of the build log "(Model name) for TBD Build Off". If the build log is posted in a forum other than this one (Vintage and Old Timer Designs) please put a post on this thread as I may not automatically pick it up otherwise.

Lots of choice - must be 500 or so on OZ alone - so let's see if we can beat the extraordinarily successful Fifty Plus B. O entry of 58.

I'll be building Boddo's Mini Pronto, and if time allows I'll double up with his Elf-16 delta.

You will be very pleased with the Scorcher's performance. Fast, flies like it is on rails. Electric will not be a problem, glow can have problems with fuel flow. Hand launching requires a strong throw often resulting in leaning out the engine.

I was a teenager when I flew mine - just loved it!

I'm 99% certain that I will be doing a David Boddington design; probably a Barnstormer, though I may be swayed by a Tiger Moth (I need to dig out the plan I have) or a Cirrus Moth. If the latter I may even make it from a kit...

Hey Tom - March will still be the season of horizontal rain here in the UK! That's the main reason why all of Sundancer's build offs do not require the model to be flown to qualify as completed. The pressure to maiden in unsuitable conditions could cause the catastrophic loss of the model, which would defeat the purpose of the build off - which is to get MORE traditionally built models flying!
