As a precaution I only use the BEC on the Plush, up to 4s. Anything over gets a dedicated 5cell NiMh 750. But this is on any ESC. I figure the added security is good, as anything over 4s is usually a more expensive and larger plane.

I think Hobby Wing, Plush and ZTW are the same?

Most definitely, on something larger and more expensive but I've been using the Hobbywing built in bec's on 5s in my edf's with no issue's for a long time.

HW's premium range sold under their label is not the same as others, ZTW is a cheaper brand made by a different company, I had a full range of samples from them a few years ago and they were average at best, 2 burnt out when testing, threw them out after that. Plush, I have had some burnt out ones given to me to inspect and when compared side by side to original HW the component brands were different.

HW's Platinum range is the best around, I run the 100A 6s model on 6s AT 100A constant AND have run 7 servos off the inbuilt BEC! No issues, the Starmax F16 I set up like this is still flying over 4 years on.

Never had issues with ZTW, HW, or Plush. But I always have a 10A extra margin. And I keep the ESC near the battery. Now, I have a box full of Castle. Thats where they stay unless spinning a prop.

I have a Castle 75a Ice Lite in my EF-16 with 2W-20 and 6904, and it has worked without any flaw. It is mounted up to the backend of the motor, so it has plenty of air moving over it.

But, as a rule, I'm with you Fuzz. Have seen too many Castle disasters, my Venom F-86 most notably.

Use number5) Cyclone power 3300kv with heat sink it can handle a 10 blade easy on any 4s 40c to 65c or a 5s . When you run this fan on 5s it must be perfectly balanced as best you can or it will vibrate at high speed. Good luck .
