Help!
Recommended product?

Hi all,
Thought I try and get your help in trying to find a cheap, fast plane to purchase over the coming week.

I'm looking for a new/used ~36" plane that can do 100+mph - either EDF or EP Prop.
Here is the catch: excluding Transmitter and receiver I would like it to cost less than $100!

I've been looking at the HK Bearcat kit but its not in stock in EU. I would love it being a plane built by someone in a garage rather than in a factory. I don't mind it being small, but ideally made out of balsa/composite. RTF or ARF, but no scratch build kits.

Thanks for your help in advance.
B

Speed costs MONEY.

Exactly how fast do you want to go?

80 mph minimum i would think.
Realistically, how fast would $100 'buy' me?

Any chance of finding something similar but in fiber glass?
I think if nothing else comes up I'll probably order this kit as soon as HK confirms when they'll get it back in stock.
But i was hoping for something along the lines of this only smaller.

Flite Test - 100mph under $100 - CHALLENGE (12 min 16 sec)

100mph for less than $100
I guessing the under $100 doesn't include shipping but because the price includes a cheap ($26) 4ch remote you can remove that and have shipping while still having it under $100 I think I don't know how much shipping costs to the Eu

101mph cost me about $50US 5 years ago, could probably do it for about $25US for the power system now

A SIG Ninja (www.sigplanes.com/SIG-Ninja-Kit_p_60.html) will do 80 mph dynamic soaring. Just two servos (aileron and elevator) and no need for propulsion.

All,
It seems somewhere along the lines of me watching a youtube video of a 'fast' plane and posting this thread, and reading your replies, I have decided to take on the challange of designing my own plane from scratch for under $100 (excluding additional tools etc). Hopefully I would like to achieve more than 100mph but not sure where it will end up.

I will also stay out of all foam construction (just dont like it) and already have some ideas as to what materials to use. I'm looking at constructing a 24" size plane and would like you're help on power unit. Especially what motor/prop to use.

I can continue this thread with a build log if anyone is interested in watching the failure...
Thanks

PS. I know many of you here compete and have regulations and standards to comply by. I'm just setting this model up for pure performance outside of competition regulations to test aerodynamics, weight and power.
