Gooniac, I will admit that I am a bit slower in the turns than Evan is. After all, he has been doing this sort of thing for 50 years compared to my 3. But he is about 10mph faster than me and I don't think I could catch him no matter how tight my turns are. But, give me a few more weekends at the field and I will get faster. Especially on the left hand pylon... for some reason I have a harder time with that turn than the right pylon. I can take that one with no problem.
It is all about carrying momentum from one point to the next. Once you get the ball rolling you can keep it going. But if it stops then you have to start all over. Run your own line and don't try to match the other person. That will help you get faster....

I really do need to get out there by myself one or two times to hone my turns and lines.

I think you should piece together the VD with heavy hot glue... the added weight and drag might give me an advantage.

You will be amazed at how a little extra time focusing on yourself will make you faster...LOL But hey it's always harder to do with others around...

Buy a 12x12 and cut it down to about an 11x12. Use same 4 cell and same motor and same esc. And then hold on.

100mph - 110mph.
If you go to a 5 cell 3300 and a 10x10 you should see 110- 120.

Trust me, you'll get to faster speed planes or setups sooner than you may imagine and you'll likely progress quickly. Once you start flying small, fast pylon or hotliner airplanes going 150-180mph or more, there isn't much that seems all thay fast any longer.
