Quick question to m60 builders, I've covered my wing with oracover/ultracote and now ready to glue in the fuze. Should I remove the oracover over the part that is hidden in the slot, or should I just glue together using the ultracote as one of the surfaces to glue too. What the glue of choice? Gorilla? Epoxy? Goop?
Thanks.

Either way, but if you dont remove the ultracote, first scuff it with sandpaper, then glue. Thats how I did mine and its still holding great !

I cut the covering away and used heavy duty carpet glue it fIexes epoxy is brittle but will do, but I wouldn't use Gorilla glue it foams and expands so it tends to push things away from each other ideal for the spar section but not for joining the fuse to the wing.

I should provide a pic, and no its not yellow! Tips are going to be red. Fuze red. Weight is looking like being 36oz ish. Going to fit a 5 cell in the fuze, as i think it will prolly need more to balance with the fin on.

The Bullet is Ready!

So the bullet (as named by my kids) is ready. She weighs 38 1/2 Oz. Most of that 9 Oz is a 6mm steel bar that runs the full length of the Fuze. There are also uprated wing spars, a carbon longeron above the wing back to the tail, and a ballast tube. The fuze is strapped and oracovered, the wing is strapped as per instructions and oracovered. She feels very stiff, and just how a nice new M60 should be! She also has a 6V 5cell. My settings are as follows, 15mm up/down aileron, 3mm up down elev (i do like a fast roll rate), CG at 46mm. She actaully balanced very close bang on first balance, probably due to the fact that i set her up and weighed it, added lead up front before i glued it together. I removed a very small bit of lead 1/2 oz, its a very tight squeeze with a 5 cell in the battery compartment.
With the 14Oz ballast or so she hopefully be the right weight at around 52 Oz for some ripping the cliffs in the summer gales...

Cheers,

Nice build! I think that's an ideal weight for an all-purpose M60.

The M60 from NCFM is one great ship. Mine came in at 40.8 un-ballasted and about 51.8 with ballast. I like it so much I purchased the Moth with the same ballast tube so the lead slugs can be interchanged. Once you get used to it you will notice it will fly like it was on rails and it loves to DS. Good luck and keep all of us informed.

I usually a start slope sesh with the M60 and end it with the M60. No coincidence that!
Heres the last flight of the day, landing was a bit dodgy this time!

Heres another 'Last flight of the day', the wind had moved over to another slope, so moved over, and chucked off the 60. This time some birds showed up to play tag. This one is flying even better than my retired tatty yellow 60 (32Oz).
Light again 10-12mph. Lovely light smooth lift. One thing i have noticed is the inverted performance in light lift is slightly hampered by the extra weight perhaps, cant be sure, time will tell.
