Slinky !!

My Fire Fly and Burky designs are using exactly the same blades, heads and electrics.
It has been a while since I did a pusher so with the above in mind I have designed and built a new one.

'Slinky' is made from balsa, lite ply, spruce and depron and has turned out quite well and very cheap.
Of course , whether it will fly is a different matter but with my proven blades and head plate it has at least half a chance.

Not quite completed as yet but I have taken a couple of photos before the forecast of rain arrives.

You will note that the head servos are fitted in from the rear, not very good practice I know but the push rods will be stiffened up with carbon rods. Because of this extra mass the nose has been made a little longer. This will double up as a bit of a 'suck and see' experiment for the up coming RCM&E pusher.

Will let you know how it goes, good or bad.

Regards

Rich

Ian,
Yes mate, it is the photo, there is a rudder but it is not connected up yet as I haven't decided on the location for the servo.

Bill,
It is all WIP for the mag model, the design is drawn up just seem to have very little time to build at the moment.

Looking good Rich. Using existing parts from the Firefly should encourage those who have built one to move along one! Would look good in blue...!
Cheers

Chris,
Yes, they all seem to turn out the same

Took it out this evening and there was just not enough power, the best I could get was a very shallow sink off a hand launch. So I think I will prop it up, but this will mean increasing the the thrust line upwards. It should be fine with the tailplane that's fitted but if it is still lacking in power I will have to up the motor.

I increased the prop size to an 11 x 5.5 and moved up the thrustline of the motor, the head has also been turned around so the push rods are pulling rather than in compression. Managed to get out very late on this evening and tried some ROG, no problem until my nose wheel fell off

So it was a case of bodging the wheel back on and a hand launch for the moment, it was getting dark but managed to get young Debs out to video. I will get some better video when I get chance. It does fly well.

Yes I agree it looks and flys rather well, didn't really get the feel of its size till I saw it in your hands. Another winner!

You have lost me with changing the head around....was it because the push rods were bending? I sure flies nice...very nice....
