Haha. I wouldn't. I feel like 30's completely fair if not a bargain. Components are probably worth that. Just making sure I don't get in over my head on repairs.

That's really cool, I love the tricycle mode, I've never seen a bixler with that setup but I'm tempted to try it just because it looks so cool!

You deserve an award. I wish all craigslist buyers were like you. I list a lot of items on CL and maybe people automatically expect a buyer to come down off their listed price 35-50% regardless of how low it it's listed for. The same person that offers $20 for that already bargain priced $30 Sky Surfer would likely offer $30 if it was listed for $40.

Fantastic thread! I just had my Bixler v1.1 maidened yesterday (Still a rookie pilot so I let trainer take it up). I did just about all the mods listed, CF rods, rubber band wing mounts etc.. I picked up a pusher 6X4 prop (oops) so it flew on the original prop. Once he had it dialed in he handed me the controls. Flew nice! For a minute. Then the battery dumped. Glides beautifully. I may have landed it but my approach angle scared the crap out of my instructor who grabbed the controls and brought it in gentler. No test of the durability.
On the next pack I let a friend have the controls after my trainer put it in the air. He was so impressed he's going to buy one in 2 weeks. He wants to get the RTF version of either the Bixler V1.1 like mine or the Sky Surfer V5. Given that there is now 1230 pages here and my reading, let alone my typing, is very slow, I have to ask if anyone has had any recent luck with the V5 RTF from B*n*n*hobby? If so what mods did you do besides the wings?

The best thing you can do is read posts #2 & #3 of this thread. There is a wealth of information from the guys who read this thread. After that, if you have any questions, post them here. Again, Welcome

I have read those posts for mods on my plane and did most of them. When he gets his I'll reread it all with him and focus on the V5 mods. I'm still wondering if the horror stories are over from "fruit"hobby (bad customer service etc...) I can deal with no instructions but if something is missing from the V5 RTF box I want to know that we will be able to talk to someone

So ugly but so cool! I want to know if you can put a gopro up front and then a board camera on a gimbal on top.

1. Thank You. It does take some time to keep the introductory information up to date.
2. The Good News - The order to delivery time of the Sky Surfer products has been and is excellent (that is hard for me to say - but, it is true. The Bad News - If you have ANY problem with the contents in the box(es), you are in big trouble and will incur monumental frustration. They have spent probably 99% of their development time on streamlining the order/delivery process and nothing on the customer support part of their business. If you have ANY problem at all (with the pieces/parts), I suggest that you fabricate/order/rebuild whatever is necessary because you will spend weeks to months to never getting them to do anything to solve your problem. I hope this helps. On a personal note, I will go to great lengths to buy whatever it is that I need from ANYONE else other than them. i.e. Currently, they are the only supplier of the 2400mm Super Sky Surfer. There are several other vendors for the SkyS. But, none of them sell the SPECIFIC 2400mm SkyS. When I ordered it from them, IIRC, it arrived 3 days after the order and it was in perfect condition.
AJ
P.S. For the folks considering a purchase of the Sky Surfer - Buy the Bixler 1.1 from Hobby King and bypass any and all risks of dealing with BH. The Bixler 1.1 is very nearly identical to the Sky Surfer V4. But, since you are ordering from China, you have to be patient (usually ~ 3-5 weeks from order to delivery). I hope all this helps.

.

AJ, I tore up three and lost one. I had the B2 and the one I got from banana hobby and I went back to the V1 .1 and that's what I fly. A little extra carbon may 2200 KV motor and this thing rocks. At our airfield no one had seen this type of power glider go vertical then roll out, shut down and glide.
