I have a new O.S. LA .10. I need some ideas on an airframe for it,
preferably something in kit form.
I have considered the H.O.B. Chea-pass stick .10.

The .10 LA is kinda weak compared to some other .09-to-.11size engines out there, so # one consideration is to keep it lite. There have been some conversions (do a search on this forum) with guys using the .10 LA on some Electrifly bipe ARFs. But, I think most ended up with larger engines. The Cheapass would probably be a good lite platform. I've had one (still unfinished, after many moons) waiting for one of my Enya .09 engines. Just too many other projects. The best video I've seen (.10 LA. powered plane) is of MR67STANG's CLOUDRANGER.

I kind of disagree with the LA being kind of weak compared to others.(there are hardly any others) I found mine went quite well on the stand with an opened up muffler baffle (800 more rpm in my case) and removing the .020 head shim and replacing it with a .005" shim for about a .015" headspace. Without the muffler it went 18,000 rpm compared to 16,200 stock muffler. Compared to a TD .09 @ 16,400, an OS FP at 17,200, an AP .09 @ 16,900. All on the same 7-4 MA prop without muffler. The Thunder Tiger GP 10 was weak at 13,500 (with muffler) I don't know what else is available in that size. As far as a plane, there aren't many kits or ARFs in that size other than Herr stuff and electric conversions from china of which there are many.

Scale up a Randy Randolph Bee-Tween 1/8th and have at it. Great flying combo, MAN Plans has them.

if you can find a goldberg tiger 400 they are amazing with a la.10 mine is a screamer but can be back down and flown slow too. theres always a few of the herr engineering kits at iflyherr.com like their pitts special and their mustang.

Yep, that is one fine plane. Had one with an Enya .09 Can't say anything bad 'bout it. Lost it when the crystal fell out of the Berg receiver. Been searching for another for over a year, now. ................ George K.

mine has been stripped for parts keeping it as a wall hanger. sentimental value to it. just seems like now every time i fly it i wreck it just like all my old planes only my new ones are crash free.

The Cheap ass has a neat looking floatplane too. Never tried one myself. Was just looking at the Goldberg Tiger 400 to see what it looks like, and guess what, I have one. Picked it up at a swap meet and was going to go leckie. Hmm I got a couple of LA 10's.

I have an FP .10 which is basically the same as the LA .10, and have a House of Balsa Spacewalker kit for it - I've read that this airframe is a near perfect match for it.

Too many kits, not enough time.

HOB Spacewalker would be a good choice. I have one with an OS MAX 10FSR and flew it a week ago just to get the cobwebs out. I'm flying a 7X4.5 on it at 15,100 RPM, so power level sounds comperable.
