Wasp Wings by Performance Kits?

I'm looking for plans for the Wasp Wings made by Performance Kits.

It was a powered free flight model of cabin design.
It was advertised in Aeromodeller magazine approximately 1980, I was given a kit for a birthday about 30 years ago!

I would dearly love to build one again as a return to the hobby.

Can anyone help me find a plan? or even a picture?

The plan was available up to about 5 years ago.. a O.F.W "Peter" Fisher design
Regrettably he is no longer with us...

It's a rather skinny 34" cabin model for a .5-.8cc motor. It has a very long rear moment arm..

His 42" Apex IMO was much better design..

In what part of the world do you live?

Thanks Dekan,

I recognise the lightning flash logo.

I'm from Surrey but work has me overseas most of the time. Currently in Oklahoma.

I am sad to hear of Peter Fisher's passing.

I recall as a boy of about 12 or 13 plucking up courage to telephone him to take up the kind offer in the kit instructions in the event of difficulty. I was perturbed about the apparent lack of thrust offset to counter torque! I recall him explaining that I could expect differences bewteen this my first powered model and the rubber models I was familiar with. I remember feeling reassured!

Why I worried that the designer hadn't dealt with all this I have no idea!
I went on to study aeronautical engineering so I can thank him in some way.

He used to live in the I.O.M.

I have friends in Ramsey and went to the auction of his collection of motors and planes. There was Wasp Wings in the auction....but I have no idea what it went for...I think it had a DC wasp motor fitted,.... hence the Wasp wings moniker?

Pm me when you in the Uk again, and I will see about getting a copy of the plan to you if I can....

Hi guys. I have been building the Apex for a few years now and is indeed a magnificent model.

I am trying to find out more about the models designed and kitted by OFW "Peter" Fisher of Performance Kits.

Not much of a picture, but this is the advertisement from the 1978-79 Aeromodeller Annual mentioned by chipfire in his original post.

Thanks Ray. I am looking to Re Kit some of these models.

I have an original APEX which is built and has the original decal on it.

I have built several Apex from the plan which came with the model.

Video of one of my APEX
Apex at Oily Hand Cowra MAC August 2010 (3 min 41 sec)

I am now looking for any information on the Kits. Box covers. Ads like your'e picture.

The Wasp Wings looks a worthy model as well.

Cheers Phil.
